Our defense is growing up fast and is taking form. Shortly after CNS got here it was evident the type of talent he was accumulating on defense could potentially turn into a dominating unit. I think it is quickly taking form. The talent from the 2007,2008, 2009 and some in the 2010 class is seemingly coming together to form a dominating defense. What I saw tonight was a defense that looked to be "toying" with the gators at times. Speed, power, quickness and explosiveness is what this defense is quickly turning into. We had zero offense in the second half and the defense ensured the game would never be in question.

It is scary to think how good we will be when our secondary "gets there." If it were not for some blown coverages Florida would not have had a first down.

The FUTURE is BRIGHT!!! To me they loooked GREAT!! There were a few times in the 2nd half where they drove and I felt like it was the coaches call to let the clock run a bit, but then BAM!! They were stopped.......

These young men just made FL look like a cupcake team!! Congrats Players & Coaches, all your hard work is paying off!!!

We're 9 pts a game good. Against opponents that average about 25 or so pts a game, meaning we hold opponents to about 64% less than they normally score (on average). That's pretty darn good.

We can't just count the last 6 quarters. And we don't have to to still look spectacular. 3 touchdowns in 5 games is astounding.

One thing that I have heard is that Saban recruits a smash mouth offense but wants a defense that can combat a spread style offense. I think with talent he's gotten and continues to get really showed tonight and last years SECCG. You can even say that in the second half against Arky as well. As well as they played they still have to get better. It's crazy though because they have a high ceiling, maybe higher than last year. That pass rush finally showed up.

This "D" loves the red-zone...they seem to really tighten up when its absolutely needed and they are getting better overall with each game.

They are both frustrating and exciting at the same time. If and when they ever get it all together and play on the same page for 60 minutes, they are going to be awesome. They aren't there yet, but there's definite improvement, I was impressed with the whole defense this game, not just the dline. They were fast and aggressive across the board, getting to the ball, pressuring the qbs, plus I didn't see any loafing around, and tackling was better, not great, but better.

Improving, but there's always room to improve. Noticing missed tackles with the 1st opportunity to make the play. Great win tonight, and now on to SC at their place. Playing a team next week with the back against the wall, and Bama has got to bring it.

I was actually thinking "great!" at many points during the game.

Actually, I wouldn't have believed you if you told me yesterday that FL wouldn't score a single touchdown. I would've bet all the money in my wallet against that! I'm glad I don't know any bookies.

the last 6 quarters the D is playing better every series, especially in the "Red Area", don't you people listen to CNS, it's the "Red Area".

Dareus and Upshaw played like animals tonight, anybody notice how bad MD made Pouncey look when he played nose. Gotta put the QB on the ground when you get in there big fellas.

Nico and CJ Moseley are both going to be stars

The secondary is "Ball-Hawkin" all over the place. UF sure didn't challenge Lester much tonight, oh yeah please get Dre some new cleats, so he quits slipping when his receiver cuts.

Good and getting better. I was really surprised how cohesive they were in the red zone. In fact, I was down right amazed at times.

I LOVE this defense! :BigA:

Overall they are playing really well against both pass and run. Our secondary still has room to improve.

The one aspect that I noticed was that we seem to drop coverage on backs coming out of the backfield. Arkansas burned us on that play early in that game, and we had a busted coverage on that play against FL too. That play and the 20-yard out are open more than I would like, but I'm sure they will be working on it.

Looks like most everybody on here realizes that this defense is still a work in progress -- as Saban says -- in Process.

Don't you get the feeling that when the two young 5-star corners, Dre and Milliner, 'get it,' that this defense will have matured to the point where last year's defense was? You put last year's defense with a lot of offenses, and a championship would not have been out of the question. Defense wins championships, and by the time this defense grows up, it looks to be that kind of defense.

Come to think of it, if this defense were as mature today as last year's was, then Saban wouldn't have to be trying to get the team to 'play sixty minutes.' Mallett would not have been able to pour it on in the first half like he did last week, and Florida obviously would not have been able to move the ball like they did, if this defense were as mature as it is going to be.

How good are Milliner and Kirkpatrick going to be? They both have real, quality speed. When those two and Robert Lester become as 'savvy' as Mark Barron already is, we will have a 'lockdown' secondary. At that point, I don't see how anybody can beat this team. Will it happen before the year's out?

Saban remarked that C. J. Mosely is still making a few mental errors. Well, when that guy gets it all together, along with the DB's, and guys like Nico Johnson rounding it all out, this will could be one of the great Alabama defenses.

Cover the wheel route and tweak the depth that the first level drops back, along with the corner/ safety communication on the outside zones and we will be good.
