Question: How will the dome affect our kicking game?

Special teams concerns me the most coming into this game. I realize that wind can either boost or hinder a kick-off's distance depending on which way you're kicking, but how does a closed in stadium compare to a fair day with very little/no wind? I just watched the Arkansas kicker kick one through the endzone. Is there less resistance inside of a dome, and do you think that Cade will be able to boom some through the endzones for touchbacks to keep them out of Mathieu's hands easier in the dome than at BDS?

meh.....it isn't like he's been kicking into gale-force winds every game. If I had to guess, we'll score 10 TD's, so that's 11 kickoffs. I'd say he puts 2 of those in the end zone.

:)

Come on guys, if you can't say anything positive about our kickers, just don't say anything at all! They are doing their best, and interviewed today admitted the blew it. The interviewer said they were confident...they don't need disparaging comments.

BTW RTM, it's a good question, I hope Cade can boom them, and we can avoid runbacks!

I'm not worried about our kicking team. I have faith in them.

Not worried about the kicking game either besides kick-offs and maybe punts. If Mathieu is able to break one out for a TD, it could be a major game changer. I have faith that whoever gets up there for a FG (if any) will make the kick just fine.

Look at this interview with Cade Foster. He is been working hard on improving and he said that he has gotten stronger.

I don't think we will be attempting too many long field goals in this game.

On kick-offs I wouldn't expect much change. I doubt that Cade has added enough leg strength in the last 40 days to begin kicking them out the back of the end zone. As long as we cover them well, it won't hurt us any more than it did in the regular season.

I don't think we'llsee much change in the punting game either. Maybe we'll see a few more punts away from Mathieu.

I read some where that during a recent practice and in last minute game simulation Cade kicked and made a 54 yarder! Just saying.

meh...I'm no coach, but I'll still take my chances on going for it or pooch punts if the FG attempt is greater than 40 yds. JMO

Coach Saban has said this often throughout the year....and last year as well. Cade kicks them from 50+ all the time in practice. He even boots KO's out of the end zone in practice, but for some reason doesn't do it in the game. Go figure....

I think it was Jay Barker that said the other day, with it being inside the dome, if the Tide had a chance early in the game for a long FG, he believed Nick might give him a shot just to see how he did (and to give him a shot at redemption). If he was to miss it, then he will turn to pooch-punting or going for it on fourth downs.

That was his opinion about it,

Jason
