I feel Saban is getting fed up with JPW

Well, maybe we are being to hard on JPW, but everyone is right about him not making good decisions......The last play of this game made me realize that JPW is going to have a dog fight next year to keep his job. I say let GM start next week and make JPW think about how many things you can make out of Pine!!

I'm pretty sure the playcalling would "look" a lot better if a certain QB was able to execute the plays. CMA is hamstrung by the QB's abilities (physical and mental).

I think we just have to make it through this season and see what the upcoming years hold with CNS's players. I'm sure the QB play will be much much better in the future.

Let's face it, JPW is winding up his junior year and his decision making leaves a lot to be desired. I think we can safely surmise that he's not gonna be a big time QB, not even next season. I think his problem is that he's never really adjusted to the speed of the game. We're all familiar with the old adage of "Stuff happens." It seems that when it starts happening around JPW, he loses all composure and makes terrible decisions. Unfortunately, its something that can't be coached out of him.

In his defense though, he hasn't had the luxury of a true SEC quality O-line to operate behind. Coach Saban is addressing that problem though. Keep the faith, better days are ahead. :BigA::BigA::BigA:

I doubt we'll see a change at QB with only two guaranteed games left. But I'm sure he is definitely fed up with the mental mistakes. It has cost us two games in a row and and contributed to the other two.

He just doesn't get the mental aspect of the game ON TOP OF having a weak arm. That's usually a recipe for disaster.

Part of the problem though is even when he has time he still makes bad decisions.

And people that have attended games probably have noticed this...and it isn't just bad throws, but JPW has been horrible with his reads. We DO have receivers open, he is just late seeing them. For whatever reason he does not have a feel that QB's need to have as to seeing when a receiver is going to be open. Unfortunately, he sees it the same time we do and by that time it is too late.

DJ an others will support him, but I

If I were McElroy or Fanuzzi it would break my spirit to know that I stink so bad that I can't even get a look in a game time situation.

Bet when they're starters they won't be volunteering to come out of the game after a bad series.

Perfectly stated.
At some point, I wish Saban would see if anyone else wants to step up to the plate. JPW never looked comfortable out there all day. Someone said earlier he had that "gunslinger" mentality. Looked to me like he was afraid to pull the trigger all game long.

DJ and other WR's will support him, but I proimse you they are very, very frustrated.

I think the td pass last week to DJ was maybe the ONLY time he has hit a receiver in stride for a long pass....DJ usually has to slow up

At what point would Saban have benched JPW earlier in the season?

Up until now, Alabama was still alive for a SEC Championship. Until all hopes fly out the window, I would rather not see Experiment Time with the QB's.

If Saban wanted to try out different options now, I don't think anyone could blame him, but before today to think he should have been rotating quarterbacks is a farce. JMO

Yeah, not like Croyle who (at his best) hit those receivers in stride. Very few long TD passes as a result. Sure, long passes, but few YAC because receiver has to slow up and gets tackled as soon as he catches ball.

Also, apropos other comments on this thread, I told my friend while the game was in the 3rd that JPW was acting scared. I do think he lost whatever confidence he has during the game. Was it because of the INTs? Sure, he had pressure at times, but other times he had plenty of time to do his reads, IMO. So I don't think the pressure rattled him. It was something else. After all, from our first series he looked bad. Seems like he went 3-11 in the 1st quarter before anything bad happened.

JPW will continue to start this year, I think that's evident. The bigger question is about next year. Do we go with a true freshman or our other QBs (who probably aren't as good as JPW or else they would have over taken him already)? A big question mark faces us for our QB situation next year IMO.

I agree its too late in the season now for a complete change...but I don't think it would have hurt to pull him for a series or two today. I thought it should have happened in the FSU game, but hey, thats just me.
The SECCG chances went out the window after the lsu loss. I could be wrong but I don't think any of our back-up QB's have played except in the very first game of the year. Not good.
