I just read an article where Marquez Hall committed to Vandy, but really wanted to go to Bama. As he said things "Things just didn't work out." Translated, "There isn't enough room for me." I know this topic comes up now and again, but I hate seeing kids that dreamed of putting on the Crimson uniform all the way up until their senior seasons just to see that the reality of squeezing in there with out-of-state blue-chippers has a chance of nil. I mean, these kids have a prepared heart to play here. Oh well...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems Earl Bennett made similar statements last year. But alas, no room. He seems to have no problems catching the ball. :biggrin2:
I'm not venting or anything, but I can't help but think that if we just defended our borders and kept guys in state, we can win championships with homegrown talent. If you keep up with the kids that get away, especially with Louisville, Southern Miss, NCSU, and Clemson raiding our state, imagine keeping some of that home.
Going national is not that big deal to me. Look at Tennessee (even I know that lack of coaching/discipline is playing a part there). Getting Tebow is not that big a deal to me. Smelley already wants to come, now. But back to my original point, I hate the limitations, because guys that want to play here and would probably contribute here are not even getting a sniff of an offer.
So here's to you, Marquez Halls of the world. Much success to you in the future, uhm, except when you play the Tide.
Thoughts?
