Jacoby Brissett, Cameron Coffman hold off on signing day decisions - MaxPreps News

The Class 6 first team all-state selection threw for 3,267 yards and 25 touchdowns on 240 of 391 passing during his final campaign with the Panthers. Coffman ran for another 472 yards and seven scores.

Raymore-Peculiar coach Tom Kruse said Wednesday morning that Coffman had the impression that he would receive an offer from Alabama. But no offer has been tendered.

"He's going to wait and see who signs with what schools," Kruse said of Coffman's next move. "If he has to, he'll contact junior colleges and some Division-1AA schools have shown a lot of interest. Heck, he is a D-1 athlete. We just have to find him a spot. Someone will get a good one."

I know CNS said in his presser that he wished they could have signed another QB..COuld this guy be in wait mode to see how we finish with Cyrus K & Clowney . Or would he possibly be a potential greyshirt or even a preffered walk on ? thanks !

I knew a kid who did basically the same thing when I was teaching in Chattanooga. Had all the upside in the world, but wanted to wait it out and see who signed where. He ended up taking the only offer he could from Air Force. The kid couldn't keep up with all the regulations the Air Force Academy put on their cadets and ended up coming home. He eventually was able to go to Richmond and play, but, in my mind, never tapped fully into his potential he showed in high school.

I guess what I am trying to say is it's better to take an offer that's given to you rather than wait around and think everybody is going to come looking for you. Most classes are already full as it is and don't have room.

think things will work out for this kid if he wants to go D1. Miami still needs a quarterback badly - they want Jacoby, but if he signs with Florida, they'll still be looking. Heck, I'm sure Joey Jones would like someone like him at South.

We'll be mighty thin if there is an injury and/or transfer. But I guess you could say that about quarterbacks any year.

That may be true, but in a worst case scenario, we have guys that will be playing other positions, that also played QB in high school, I.E., Jabriel Washington, so in an absolutely worst case we could manage til next year!

Interesting events from Brissett's PC according to Tim Reynolds:

Brissett says Florida (no surprise)

Many cheers, many boos after announcement. (starting to get interesting)
Interesting events really begin:
Jacoby's mom: "Not my choice. I'm very disappointed."

Jacoby's mom says she will keep trying to change his mind until he faxes Monday.

Brissett told his mother of the decision by text message at 5pm. "He knew I'd be disappointed," she said.

Jacoby Brissett's mom:"I was hoping that he would respect me and go to 'The U' because 'The U' showed respect to his mom" (She wanted Miami)

I don't know why Brissett wants to go to UF to begin with, what with Driskel already there. He'd have a much easier path to PT at Miami IMHO.

Weird that Weiss would like Jacoby more than Driskell. Driskell is a VERY big dude, great arm and can make all of the throws. I know the whole "stars" thing is over rated but jeez, all the experts like Driskell more than Jacoby.
