Alabama wins by default because the other teams simply could not come close to filling out a roster.

Alabama, I'd think. Most teams couldn't field a team and others that could (such as LSU or Ohio State) don't really have QBs.

If we had a better QB Bama for sure. Only LSU and Clemson have the level of WRs we do in the NFL right now but neither of them have a TE on OJs level. We also have upper tier RBs even if none of them are elite. I doubt if any school could compete with our front 7. There might be a school with a better DL or LB core but not both combined. We have solid if not great CBs but the front 7 would cover them up some. Oh, and I don't think anyone would have as good of a Safety tandem or even all that close outside of maybe LSU. Our OL wouldn't be elite by NFL standards but I have a feeling it would be way better than the group most schools could pull together. Overall, I would expect us to win because I don't think AJ would have to be a game changer even if he isn't on Matt Stafford's level.

How do we need better QB went to NC last yr with hurts and won 4 NC with our QB's so why would we need better ones, AJ was best until now and he is in NFL so bring him back and we almost guarantee a NC in his little experiment. Had we ha AL,s arm last yr we beat clemson's best ever team.

Because in this hypothetical we are playing against NFL players not college players.

"AJ McCarron was nothing to write home about in college" Huh??
Let's see 2 natty's and Heisman finalist; Stafford is a better pro, so far, but he did what in college?

I noticed that comment too. Yep he didn't do much other than win 2 national titles, damn close to a third, and Heisman runner-up. Now Stafford he was the typical mediocre UGA QB in college.

In typical 80s and 90s fashion, word! Roll Tide! It is amazing how little he is appreciated. The dude could play.

If we used NFL players is AJ McCacon not an NFL player? If he was our NFL college qb for this little stunt, right now with our other NFL players who could beat a bama team of current exbama guys, no other team has more ex players in NFL at key spots to beat or explayers. Look at all the key guys we have in NFL AJ Julio Jones, to many line backers and cornerbacks to name, and plenty of line men and running backs in NFL from Bama, we could round up our best NFL and take on any group from any one college around. Name one college who has enough players in NFL to even field a starting 22

FSU and Clemson would be our biggest obstacles. Watson with those WR's would be unfair. But with a defensive unit including the likes of Foster, Hightower, Allen, Williams, Reed, Robinson, Collins, etc.. The QB's would not finish the game.

I think AJ does better on this theoretical team than the writer seems to give him credit for. One issue that isn't covered would be special teams. That's an issue to.

But if you scrapped the NFL alum and just went with alums, I think Alabama has a darn good shot at beating anyone. They might not have the best QB, but they'd have a competent person at pretty much every position and some real talent stacked up at important positions.
