Utah is up 3-0.

I have only seen one drive for Tulsa but I have liked what I have seen from Kragthorpe's offense. He will pound the ball up the middle one play and then go with the shotgun and spread you out with 4 WRs the next. Are we looking at him as a possible #2 option?

i'm watching it, would rather be watching bama though. Still undecided who I want to win this one.

what'd you think of Troy's thrashing of Rice last night?

I was pretty surprised. I thought that Jarett Dillard, Rice's All American WR, would have had a bigger impact. That QB for Troy really impressed me though.

BTW, touchdown Tulsa. They lead 7-3

Kragthorpe is obviously not the answer. We already had a coach whose team liked to fumble and the offensive line didn’t block. We fired him.

Leavitt's (sp) team played the style I like - I don't care for Leavitt but team looked coached - Everyone I have seen in the few bolw games thus far, I liked Sou Fla style of play best.

He will win big somewhere - sometime

So you're saying a guy whose team fumbles and doesn't block is the answer? :conf2:

The point is that Kragthorpe has turned around Tulsa's program. In his four years there they have been to 3 bowls. In the thirty seven years prior, they had been to 3 bowls.

And somehow you managed to make the conclusion by watching the first half of a bowl game that Tulsa is a team that "cannot block" and "fumbles."

Well, Tulsa was first in Conference USA in sacks allowed, with only 14, so clearly they can "block".

Second, Tulsa fumbled once in the first half, and all of a sudden they are a team that "fumbles"?

Kragthorpe is a great young coach and Alabama would be oh so lucky to hire a guy with Kragthorpe's age, character, and coaching ability. Making conclusions about a coach and an entire program based on one or two plays in the first half of a bowl game is just ridiculous.

I will say the Utes are not that impressive, but Tulsa was even less so........IMO,Tulsa looked and was coached about even with Southern miss.. I now feel even better with saban or Johnson and would feel great if we could get either!

Yep. I'm not impressed with Krag either. And actually i think Southern Miss coulda whipped both those teams.

Rice was too beat up are they even on their 2nd string QB from the start of the season. They played a murderous first 4 games, but that program is on the rebound.

Tulsa outgained Southern Miss 453 to 243 and held them to two field goals in a 20-6 win earlier in the year. The game was on national television, and I actually posted a thread on here to make sure people didn't miss seeing Tulsa's offense on national television.

Those that aren't impressed with Steve Kragthorpe and what he's accomplished at Tulsa in four years are not looking at the big picture and haven't seen Tulsa play nearly enough.

I saw all I needed to see from Tulsa last night. And they reeked. And you can't get around that. They took a giant step backwards and we dont need that around here anymore. Maybe they beat USM, I dunno. But they got the crap beat outta them last night. sure looked like Kragthorp cant win when it counts.

But go ahead and hire him. You know better than the rest of us.

Idiotic post. I'm sorry, but it's painfully true.

We had a decent coach that ran an offense that provided pretty good statistics, particularly at the quarterback position. Our team consisitently moved it between the 20's better than most SEC teams, BUT he didn't win games.
Any difference? Stats don't mean anything. Its the wins.
I'm sure Kragthorpe is a decent coach. My concern is, is he any better than the one we just fired?

Good post!

Some of these folks are so enamoured with stats and small-time college athletics that they forget the bigger picture. Can this coach win when its all on the line? I dont think he can.

Kragthorp's team look unprepared, came up woefully short and you can take that to the bank.

(And to echo my illustrious all-knowing, stat spouting, fellow Tider above, Sorry...but its painfully true). :p
