Weirdly we might have an Ole Miss buffer. Ole Miss is below us but they dominated South Carolina at South Carolina. It might be hard to justify having South Carolina jump Ole Miss. So is there some weird Chance Ole Miss jumps us like when we jumped Miami while playing Mercer?

Idk. I do think there is a solid chance South Carolina jumps us ultimately
This is nonsense. Where is it coming from?

Idk. Just trying to guess. If they're only 2 spots behind us now does them beating Clemson move the needle at all. They were a 2 point conversation away from taking us to OT. 🤷‍♂️
Understood but didn’t beat Bama. No needle required if you beat a team straight up. You get in over them if everything else is equal.

The question is going to be more about USCe and Alabama. Alabama opened up with a 23% chance of making the playoffs but after USCe won the number dropped to 19%. While not an official metric it has been reliable. So I don’t know if the USCe win helped Bama other than ensuring that the ACC winner is either a SMU team or a 3 loss Clemson.

Miami losing is either going to give Bama or USCe the #11 spot.
Our best scenario was for Texas to win, Miami to lose, Clemson to beat USCe then lose in the ACC championship.

If that is the case, then we are in the playoffs regardless of what they do with Miami. We're first team out as it stands now, even with Miami and SMU in.
the problem is that the committee can do whatever they want and they can say “South Carolina is one of the best teams in the country the past 5 weeks and Alabama isn’t”.

We probably are the #11 spot on Tuesday but playing like we did tonight after playing terrible last week makes it anything but a certainty

The encouraging thing is that Bama is 13, with a solid win vs AU, OM is 14 with a blowout over USCe at Columbia. So, how can you put USCe over OM with the same record?

Plus Alabama has more quality wins than USCe who has no wins over a Top 12 team, Bama has the UGA win; plus Alabama has the H2H over USCe; plus the Committee definitely wants Bama’s audience and charisma, if those things mean anything. Plus they already had Bama 2 spots ahead. Clemson is not much better than AU and Bama won much more handily.

IMO, the only thing USCe has over Alabama is better losses and not by a lot. USCe was blown out at home by a fringe playoff team.

We definitely need a Texas win they are not gonna drop 10 spots with a loss to A&M it doesn’t matter what we think of their resume the committee has had them near the top 5 all year. I think we probably are in at this point but it razor thin as it is between 4 teams for last spot. Alabama, Miami, South Carolina, and Mississippi. Miami doesn’t have a win to hang hat on so they are most likely out. South Carolina playing best but then you look they lost to us and Mississippi by 29 points. You could give them break in tough loss on road but a 29 point loss to the other of the 3 teams left is huge. So that leaves Mississippi and Alabama and honestly it could go either way but the NCAA is still a business and who makes them more money and viewers Ole Miss or Alabama. The two questions are can A&M or Clemson steal a spot from that group if 4.

Ole Miss being right there ultimately helps us there. I don't think the committee would jump a team over two teams they lost to, especially with the way they handled Bama/GA/Ole Miss. And Ole Miss didn't play well against State, so I don't see them jumping us.

We need Texas to finish off A&M tonight I think.
A&M winning and then winning the SEC would be like a mid major conference stealing two bids in the basketball tournament.
Not really. Bama was ranked on the edge of the playoff after the OU loss.
Perhaps. I feel like we are discussing theories which have no basis in reality. But we will see.
