Penn state
Ohio state

ACC
Winner of SMU vs clemson

Big 12
-Arizona state vs Iowa state winner

SEC
Texas
UGA
Tennessee

-Boise state

Feel good that’s 10 of the 12 spots

Miami, South Carolina, Bama, Indiana, maybe smu if they lose to Clemson

Those 5 fighting for the other 2 spots
My Vegas ATS guess if game were played tomorrow:

Notre dame - Bama -12
Oregon - Bama +6
Penn state - Bama -17.5
Ohio state - Bama - 13.5
Clemson - Bama -20.5
Arizona state vs Iowa state winner - Bama -23.5
Texas - Bama +8.5
UGA - Bama -2.5
Tennessee - Bama pickem
Boise state - Bama -26.5
Miami - Bama -17
South Carolina - Bama -12
Indiana - Bama -30.5
smu if they lose to Clemson - Bama-31

Not sure this fits here and it's a bit random but since we struggled so much on the road I wonder if there was something in CNS's team travel routine that was different. Obviously road games aren't unique to the SEC but "SEC road games" are. I swear it seems like we just weren't mentally there in those losses

Yea, consistency. He had the program on a steady diet of consistency, just like is Little Debbie diet.

He's lobbying for his team and I don't have any problem with it. Unfortunately we'll keep hearing this from coaches until the CFP gives in and expands the field to 16 teams to include more of the 3 loss teams.
The only problem with your post is that you are 100% correct.

The only thing that impressed me with DeBoer was his ability to come off bye weeks with HUGE performances.
To be fair, his most impressive trait is his winning percentage. We can only hope that one more year under his belt at Bama will continue that winning trend.

Well, a 9-3 record isn't the worst, but I could accept it a lot better if he had lost to anyone but Vanderbilt.
I am still seething over that loss.
Well, I am seething over 3 losses. But it happens even to a pristine Alabama program during a transition year even thought the coach is making 10 mil...as difficult as that is to believe.

I think OU had more incentive against us because they were playing for bowl eligibility. OU has the 2nd longest streak of bowl appearances (26) and they are proud of that fact. They wanted badly to get the win at home rather than have to try to do it at LSU, so since they got it they probably lacked intensity to play LSU.
I agree with you, and I think it goes even further. OU is a blue blood program, and I would argue that before Saban started his run, they and Notre Dame had strong claims as the best program all time. Maybe throw OSU into that mix as well.

But Saban changed all that, and OU has been chafing ever since. They took potshots at Bama and the SEC for years, claiming that the SEC was overrated, accounting for our success. If they were in the SEC, they would be mopping the floor with us, in their minds.

Whenever they’ve faced us recently they’ve been the underdogs and have wanted it more than we have because they have an axe to grind. We get everyone’s best game as it is, but they kick it into another gear.

Meanwhile we treat them like just another team, and as a result, not only have our playoff hopes been seriously jeopardized, but we’ve fallen behind them in the HTH matchups. We’re 2-4-1 when we should be 4-2-1.
