It's great to be hated again!!!

I always believe that the more other fans pull against you and describe their feeling for your favorite team as "hate", then your program is on solid ground.

Agreed. But there are other reasons to be hated other than being the bully. Case in point: The University of auburn.

Oh we're still made fun of. The redneck stereotypes will never go away, at least not in my lifetime. But screw em'

You are correct. I should have been specific with my post. I think a lot of people don't really care about Auburn though. They seem to be a flash in the pan kind of like Colorado in the early 90's.

I should also have been more specific. We are hated even more by those from the "Dark Side".

It's funny how it works:

People HATED Steve Spurrier when he was winning SEC championships and contending for national championships at Florida. But these days he's more or less respected and admired as an "elder statesman" SEC coach now that his South Carolina's teams don't threaten many people.

UT was HATED enemy #1 for 5 or 6 SEC schools back when they were winning big. The bitter rivalries still exist, but intensity is way down and fans of many schools even find nice things to say about Derek Dooley.

I wrote the following to my email Bama friends just a few days ago:

"The 2011 BCS game was truly legendary and will always come up in conversations when great football teams are discussed. Of course as being an "over" fifty year Bama fan, I have lived thru the hatred of the Crimson Tide from fans of other teams, commentators and writers throughout this entire country and I've enjoyed the hatred because it is/was bred from pure envy and jealousy of the Alabama Crimson Tide being and having what every other team desired, the tradition of being a superpower in college football."

We've been hated ever since I can remember and for all the right reasons. CNS has reawakened THE sleeping giant.

I was traveling for business recently in Denver and was wearing my BAMA cap to dinner. On the elevator (heading out of the hotel) I hear a guy from behind me say "I hate Alabama". I simply smiled and said "it's nice to be on top again".

We are definitely hated right now. I did some snooping on the Barn board and every thread is Bama related (Trent's Vehicle this, how do I report suspected violations, yada yada yada).
