Lake Mary, FL.
According to the local radio here in Florida, and (GatorCountry.com) sources are saying that Urban Meyer, coach of Utah, will be the next head coach of
the Florida Gators. Just in case you wanted to know......Roll Tide!!

I find it hard to believe that Meyer would let it out IF this is true. You know his team playing for a BCS bowl and this type of thing effects the pschy of a team (see WSU after Price left).

People need to get this through their head

If UF had already agreed to Meyer, they would be open to a multi-million dollar lawsuit from Utah since Utah has NOT finished their season

Thus, this is not true.

Not confirming or defending the Meyer rumor, because at this point that's all it is.

However, one only needs to look to the Bama-Franchione-aTm triangle from two years ago to realize that tampering does go on.

U-A you could be right, but you could be very wrong. If Utah gave Florida permission(which i am sure they have) then you can throw the lawsuit out. Also we hired Mike Price before their season was over. Did we get sued, NO!!!!!!!, and y didnt we get sued, bc WSU gave us permission to talk with price.

Oh, I agree 100% that tampering does go on but if this is coming out and true....UF is all but caught then.....and I doubt Florida would allow something like this to get out.

As for permission, Utah can not stop Florida from "talking" to Meyer (that is what I understand rules wise....but I could be wrong) but contract wise....nothing can be made until the season ends.

Apprently, I am wrong...GatorCountry is saying it.....I guess law wise UF got around it somehow....no wonder I am not a lawyer :biggrin2: :biggrin2:

Actually we don't know if Jeremy Foley hasn't already...

If Florida asked for and received premission to talk to Urban Meyer and if he has...there would not be a law suit at all. With that said, it would be EXTREMELY odd for Florida or Utah to not wait until the year was finished prior to any discussions that would take place. It is a normal courtesy for one school to wait for the year to end prior to requesting to speak with or speaking with an active coach of another school. On the other hand, it is extremely odd for a school to fire a coach in mid season unless they already had their man ready to go as soon as the season was over.

They are sticking to their story. Just thought it was interesting to
share this news/ because they were playing this info on a local radio
station here in Florida. Roll Tide!

I have looked at some of the posts and now that everyone knows about the article, GatorCountry changed their title from "Meyer coming" or something along those lines to "Meyer may replace Zook"......many are going nuts about that.

Everyone else is denying this but they are sticking by the story.

It might be worth remembering that Gatorcountry.com is the same outlet who reported that a deal with Bob Stoops had been done.

I've heard that Bobby Petrino is the leading candidate for the Florida job, with the reason being his familiarity with the SEC environment and the local recruiting scene. Meyer is a good coach, but he's as foreign to the SEC as Franphony and Mike the Mongerer Price.

Yesterday on the Sports Drive radio show, Jay Tate of the Montgomery Advertiser said almost the same thing.
