Jake Jones committed to Alabama

Considering the kind of talent LSU can haul in, why would they offer a sholly to Jones if wasn't the real deal. This guy might be the biggest steal of our class.

I dont know much about Jake, but im glad to have him though. I remember hearing about his dad, when I was around 7 from my parents. From everything ive heard I think he will be a good one

Joey Jones was very much like Prothro, both in size, speed, and hands, Prothro had "the catch" and Jones had a play where he went completely horizontal after a ball and caught it, I'm sure some others can remember the details, I just remember sitting there in awe.

Joey Jones was one of the finest players that have ever played at Ala. I have been watching tide ball since the 60's If his son is as good or better than he was we will be in good shape for years to come. I always prefer the kind of recruit that has a tide history and will bleed crimson I don't care how many stars are attached to them by the so called experts. Tradition is an intangable that cannot be evaluated.

His older brother was only offered as a invited walk on and ended up at Samfort a D2 school. To be honest this question may be moot with LSWHO offering him early.

Just to make sure that correct info is out there, Samford is a IAA school, whose Basketball, Baseball, and Soccer teams have beaten us before.

Roll Tide!
Go Bulldogs!

Welcome home Jake! BTW, I saw his dad play, & he was every bit as "clutch" as David Palmer. Don't remember him going high after a ball, but he had an uncanny ability to catch a low thrown ball, while absolutely horizontal.......and I mean only inches off the ground! Oh, and Joey Jones was what.....5'6" or so?

Good pickup, another thing to think about is, I'm assuming he will qualify without any problems. A big plus, considering the recruits we've lost in the last two years due to grades. A coach's son to boot!

Jake Jones Update
A strong relationship with several Tide verbal commitments helped make the decision a little easier.

"It's great to have three of my best friends going down there with me next year," Jones said. "David Ross, Andy Davis and Charlie Higgenbotham are all good friends of mine who I hang out with a lot. It's going to be really good for all of us to go down there together."

J jones

My main point was how good of a prospect is J Jones since I have not seen him play, but now BOL has film so I can see for myself. However,if the staff feel he is good enough to offer a full schollie than that's good enough for me! Also,I
said his Dad was one of my all time favorites so if he is as good as dad we just got a very special player! :)

Great pick up

I had the opportunity to coach him early in his career. He has the best hands of any kid I have coached. He is a great athlete and a fierce competitor. I think he is a great pick up and a reflection of how well our staff evaluates talent regardless of "stars". Keep that Briarwood pipeline connected ( Jake is a former Briarwood student); we've got one next year and three or four the year after that that can play at the next level. I hate we let JD Lott get out of state (LSU). He is going to be a good one and may come back to bite us in years to come.

He sounds like a good combination of hands, speed, and determination. Could play a couple of different positions as needed and perhaps return punts/KO's.

That 4.48 40 time ain't all that bad either.

And that's something you can't coach. Good genetics, Joey was a little bullet when he played.

I can still remember "the hit" . Little Joey laying face down on the field after just catching a low pass, a defender came in with a late hit and it was helmet to helmet and spun joey around 360 degrees it seemed and there was not the first flag thrown. My ears would still be ringing but Joey jumped up and trotted off the field I think. Man! what grit. I hope Jake has a portion of what his papa has.

Mtn. Brook's Jones picks Tide
Jones was named to The Birmingham News Super All-Metro and News Class 6A All-State team as a senior. He made three interceptions but had no pass thrown his way the first five games.

Jones is being recruited as a defensive back and wide receiver.

He is the second Mountain Brook player to commit to the Tide this season. Linebacker Charlie Higgenbotham has also committed to the Tide.

ASWA names All-State, Super 12 team

I know Jake Jones is Joey Jones son.

Is Charlie Higgenbotham related to Steve Higgenbotham? (1st team All SEC - 1971)
