If you saw Jalen in 2018 (albeit as a backup) this isn’t too surprising. He became much more confident in his passing abilities while still using his legs as a weapon, working with CLR helped too and now it’s translated to the NFL. Very happy to see him succeeding.

Jalen Hurts got pulled from the 2017 National Championship because he couldn't throw accurate passes. That was his 28th or 29th start of his career. Deep into his second season as QB he couldn't be counted on to pass the ball when he needed to.

He was not a natural passer. Natural passers don't get pulled 2 years in because they can't pass the ball.

He was benched for Tua but kept working hard and when his number was called he did something he had never done before - throw the ball accurately against a good team.

Same thing in the NFL. He was not great his first year, got better, then got *a lot* better.

Josh Allen is similar. He was not a natural passer. He could throw the ball a mile, but not accurately and not consistently. He worked hard and got better. Some guys come in as freshmen and are able to make accurate throws downfield consistently. The freshman at Clemson is one.

Jalen Hurts has/had a ton of admirable traits, but being a natural passer isn't one of them. It's okay to admit someone we admire doesn't possess *every* positive attribute possible.
Seemed to me it was because he wasn't throwing much at all. He was tucking and running too much. And Georgia had his number. It was as if he was afraid to throw. And it had been that way for some time. Then Dan Enos came and worked with him. And we saw the result the next year, when Jalen came in and led Bama to a Championship win in the 2nd half.

I have wondered if Jalen could have come in or started the NC game against Clemson and won it for us? Clemson was playing high safeties and baiting an injured Tua into long throws. I think Jalen would have been deadly against them plus he would have had the bitterness of 2016 to workout against them. Talk about story book endings they would have been the best championship tandem in college football history.

That one year under dan enos did wonders for him.

Jalen was fortunate to have a Dad who is a big time high school coach in Texas. A career is just like a football game, give it your best, don't give up. Got benched at Bama, hung in there, same at Philly, now a star in the NFL, maybe MVP. Unbelievable.

He’s definitely an inspiration.

Few will remember, but it could've been four had Brock Purdy come to 'Bama after Saban offered in 2018.
Padre, if we were using our prayer beads to keep count, it actually could've been five starting QBs in the league from 'Bama had "MinStache" - Gardner Minshew - taken Saban's offer as a preferred walk-on grad transfer out of East Carolina, where he'd been a two-year starter. Reminded of him yesterday because he instead joined the Pirate at Wazzu and had a top-5 Heisman season and had a ball playing for Leach then became the Jax Jags starter as rookie, eventually to land in Philly as...Jalen's backup.
