On T Hawthorne

I hate to bring up this can of worms,but........................T H camped with C Smelley and said in his interview later that he was most impressed with CS. Also,he has made it plain he wants to be in a class with a top QB prospect. It just seems at this point Bama is short in TH's criteria, and to be honest I have not felt very good about our chances of getting him for awhile! I would love to get him,but do not see it happening.

If this guy likes what Rouse did last year, & is obviously trying hard to emulate FR's actions, then maybe he should play somewhere that will swoon over, & pamper him the way he seems accustomed to. ut jumps to mind, & he should fit in just fine. His "LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME" antics certainly have no place in the "Team First" atmosphere, that CMS is trying to establish. Of course, this is JMO, but if he doesn't want to be here, I, personally, won't lose any sleep over him!

I agree with ya! However,I still think he is a difference maker, and will be a good pick up for Ucheat,UF,or the barn b/c he fits right in with those types of teams.

Me neither...now Andre Smith, he's the one I'd give up a few zzzzzz's for. :D

I wouldn't give up on Hawthorne just yet. There are many factors pulling him to Tuscaloosa. Like I said before, Bama will be a player until the very end.
I said I am giving up not that CMS and the Bama staff are giving up. Nor would I want them to or anyone else for that matter. The thought is that the hold-up on a written offer to Duke Calhoun is they are waiting on Hawthorne's decision. Of course Bama knows more about TH than I do but my gut is not comfortable with what he has said publically and what he is planning on doing with his visits.

Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Jeremy Crabtree recently said not to worry about Hawthorne not taking an official to Bama since he lives so close he can go whenever he wants. Crabby thinks it is between Alabama and Auburn for Hawthorne. Crabtree also said in his most recent Rivals Radio interview not to worry about Andre Smith not taking an official to Alabama that he thinks Bama is the team to beat for Andre Smith. I am much more confident Bama will get Smith than I am they will get TH. Liike I said I hope I am wrong about Hawthorne.

The more I hear about this guy the more I hope he goes elsewhere. He reminds me of another receiver who seems to place his personal needs above his commitment to his teamates. Maybe he will end up playing for the Eagles some day just so he can follow in Owens' footsteps.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what has TH done to warrant comparisons to Rouse? Is he leading schools on or just taking his time and checking out all the options? If he is not a diehard fan of any particular school, why not look into the QB situation (and line for that matter)- while a good receiver can do well without, having a good offense to go with can only help.

If what you say is true about his friendship with Smelley, that might be a good fit for him. Solid QB and a coach who throws it around a good bit. Not saying that AL would not be a good fit. I can't see FL taking him at this point - we are already stacked at receiver and would be better served picking up a lineman or LB. Don't know that he ever really had any interest in FL anyway. I still think AL has a good shot at him.

He may not come to Bama, but I doubt Hawthorne thinks he couldn't compete for playing time. It's been said many times before, Hawthorne wants to play with a big name QB, and right now, Alabama hasn't got one.
Am I missing something? Last year all I heard was how great JPW was and he was going to replace Brodie midseason. has he now turned into a clump of mud or something? Or do we just like to run around like chicken little? From what i remember we can only sign 25 - and imho - if they don't want to play here - go some where else. Not meaning to be mean, but I remember a coach here at Alabama once saying, he had much rather have a team of 2 or 3 star players - at least they could be coached. Oh, thanks for listening to an old man rant. Have a good eving and good night.

Actually I "think" he meant a really good QB commit for 06. This board is about recruiting so that is most likely what he meant. I am personally very optimistic about JP Wilson at QB next season.

I also think Earl Alexander is a very good QB. He is not one of the top QBs in the country like Mustain and Tebow though. Alexander is more of an athlete like Jimmy Johns is. I think everyone thinks that Alexanders position will eventually be wide receiver.

It's not what we think. It's what Hawthorne thinks.
