Can’t believe we have so many selfish and narrow minded people on this board. Oatis is just doing what is best for his “brand”. Because playing a team support IS about playing for the name on the back of the jersey and not the team on the front……….

Not sure he is a great loss. He’s a big slow 3-4 NG and Wommack wants rangy slashers up front.

If he doesn’t want to compete either…

I think his body type might not be a great fit for Wommack's system. Plus the DC just said in the presser that he has been fighting injuries. I am glad he stuck it out at least this far, and as he has limited seasons to make a mark for his own career I have no hard feelings that he wants to try his luck elsewhere.

I say those things presuming that he has not been tampered with. If that's the case ... it would be different.

Dear guys who aren't bought in:

Good riddance. Get out of here so we can forget you sooner rather than later. This has nothing to do with losing to Vandy. It has everything to do with living up to your word of being "committed." We do understand that the Alabama standard isn't achievable for everyone and if you're leaving, it wasn't for you. That's ok, maybe you'll find something that doesn't require you to work nearly as hard and where your fragile feelings will be assuaged (look it up).

Sorry, not sorry.

Dear guys who are bought in and will stay (and those currently in HS who are committed or may commit to Bama): I promise you that staying at Bama (whether or not you get the playing time you think you need/want/deserve) will be better for your life than 99.737% of any other experiences you think you may need/want/deserve. The word "committed" actually means something and goes both ways.

He was a starter for 2 years. This year there are a few who have moved ahead of him. And now he's not seeing much play time. He's a junior and wants to play. He played very little against Vandy. Not enough to record even one tackle. So I don't really blame him. We have good depth on the DL.

A player who redshirts in the middle of the season clearly isn't a team player. I wonder if schools will really be that anxious to pick up a player who would do that to his (former) teammates. I'd be concerned if I had a say in player selection.

I wouldn't blame him for leaving after the season. I do blame him for quitting on his team in the middle of a season.
