I saw a Tweet by Manziel saying nobody is afraid anymore because CNS is gone…

Not Kentucky not Vandy… Nobody.

I mean I can’t argue with him because he’s right.

We look like a Middle to Lower tier old PAC-12 team.

A lazy loafing Cal Bears or Ore St Beavers or something.

It’s pathetic.
At least Bama looked arguably better than the Browns during Johnny's brief stint with them....

I think if we change DC or get someone else to make the calls this season then the defense will be better because players will know what to do/not be confused/have confidence. I think if penalties will be addressed, it will help our defense get off the field too. Penalties and player discipline are major issues. Seems other teams always score off of it but rarely does Bama score when the other team gets a penalty.
OL needs to be addressed, as well.

Yeah but we also only put up 17 points, averaged 3 yards per carry and 6 yards per pass. Those are pretty horrific numbers on offense. Our OL was underwhelming, our WRs were underwhelming(outside of Bernard), and our QB was just fine.

The issues are bigger than the defense.

The one thing that gives me a small small small glimmer of hope is 2 of our best players are Washington transfers that came with Deboer.

I rip him for picking the WRONG team to WIN AND the WRONG team to WIN the National Championship!
Pate is just another of 5 million podcasters/talking heads.
Yup I’ve said it before on here guy is just a fan boy and doesn’t know football. Hate that people get him clicks/money.

This isn't a shot at Ty, but more of addressing what a lot of us thought may happen after this season, with regard to Simpson playing one year and moving on to the NFL, and Russell taking over next season. Unless there's a Jesus turning water into wine type of moment for Ty, there's no way he's entering the draft next year with any intentions of being drafted before the 5th round.

Thanks for that reply…. Learned something after a quick google search!
@WMack4Bama - you are spot on. millionaire 18-22/24 yr olds are incapable of disciplining themselves. It must be imposed.

For the rest of the OFC (who may not have kids in school who now have to use these ) :D

He's also started one game. Now, if I am going by the eye test of that one game, I would agree with you. But, if you watch the NFL, I have seen Tua look amazing one week, but look pedestrian when he plays the Bills. I am not saying Ty is Tua, but I think we should give Ty about 5 weeks before we can say for sure what kind of QB he is, or can be.

Unless he ends up having a Heisman-type of year, I can almost guarantee you his Dad (who is a football coach) will recommend he stay one more year in college. I'm not saying he won't improve, I just saw things that I thought I wouldn't see, such as not throwing with anticipation or any sort of touch on the ball. Everything is a fastball and a lot of his throws were very late. Granted, that is something he can improve upon, but as of now, that's who he is. He lost a lot of experience by sitting the bench for that many years and not getting more playing time during mop up duty. I think he was done a disservice by this coaching staff and the previous one.

The problem is when Ty was asked to play more like a QB manager, he was fine. In the first drive, we balanced the run and pass and the offense looked like we expected it might.

But, I think Grubb panicked and we got away from a plan that would have grinded out more 1st downs and kept the FSU offense off the field.

I think when that happened Ty was asked to make throws that took longer in the pocket and everything snowballed from there.

I also think I heard we crossed the 50 4 times on drives that didn't produce any points.

I'm not saying the offense didn't struggle, but that if the defense held up better the offense would have looked better.

I hear a lot about this particular intangible factor that one team would be "afraid" of the other one. I apologize for not fully understanding what this means. I suppose that it refers to a psychological factor in which a team's reputation for dominating opponents might play a role, but, IMHO that can't be a huge factor.

The physical struggle in football must take place on the field, and, fear doesn't play a role once the pads and helmets are crashing together. What makes a college football team great today has to be captured in the program and implemented in practice, in game planning and in the game. However it was done in the past must be repeated today. It can be done. We know that because it was done many times in the past.

I'm not sure "fear" in the right analogy.

I think "doubt" is a better one.

If you've played sports and you scouted your opponent, you usually enter a game with one of three attitudes: confidence, doubt OR realism (your team and their team is evenly matched).

I think most teams that played us in the past entered with "doubt" knowing they probably couldn't win even if they played their best, and the first time something went wrong, they tanked and their outlook of doubt was confirmed.

At that point, it was "game over."

I agree if the defense was better the offensive issues wouldn't have been as big of a deal. But I have real concerns about our offense. Especially when the HC we hired is an offensive guy. I mean, we got the ball at FSUs 46 and did nothing with it.

I believe Qua Russaw said today they were confused... which I guess would make them look slow, etc. I think it is a coaching issue with the DC. Gus knows how to exploit weaknesses too. He did his homework.
Yep. Gus was licking his chops because he knew he was going against a novice DC versus Saban. They didn't run anything Gus hasn't been running for 20 years so any sound DC should know that gap responsibility is key to stopping Gus. I don't know what we were running last Saturday.
