That's who it is. Bert Williams is the coach at Georgia Military College and Hamilton is on the roster. ....Safety #10.

Hamilton is a JUCO safety prospect, and he's originally from South Carolina. Coming out of high school he really generated no interest because of poor academics, but he shined last year at free safety -- his first year at the position -- and he got his academics in order. Those two things caused Alabama and Georgia to step into the mix, and it looks like he's going to choose between those two schools later this summer.

That's about it on Hamilton for now. Alabama and UGA are both interested because they think he can step in immediately and play safety, a bit of a need for both schools. Truth be told, I wouldn't mind seeing us get a JUCO safety prospect in this class, and Hamilton seems to be a good one.

We'll have to see how this one plays out. I don't think there's enough information out yet, one way or the other, to really know who he will likely end up with. I do know that Nick Saban has taken a personal role in recruitment, and that usually bodes well for us. We'll see.

RB/WR at Strom Thurmond high school in johnston, south carolina. mostly recruited as an athlete and he is now being looked at as a DB. He also played basketball and ran track and was apart of a dream 16 a list of top georgia and carolina players. james carpenter was also apart of the list. i think he might have been a sought after 2007 prospect just didnt qualify academically

One other morsel on Hamilton: he's a freakish athlete - claims a 4.34 40-yard dash, a 42-inch vertical and a 315-pound bench press. Those numbers come from Hamilton himself, which means they are most likely inflated a little bit. However, a quick glance at his highlight film at GA Military reveals that he can run like a deer, he has really good leaping ability and knack for catching the ball at its highest point, and he is not afraid to lay the wood from the safety position.

This could be one of those Kareem Jackson/ Cody types that the staff feels can come in and help immediately. As BET says, it's a UGA-Bama battle for this guy and he seems to favor Bama. I expect him to sign with us.

A few more bits on Hamilton...

He actually was a pretty big South Carolina lean coming out of high school, and the SoCar coaching staff actually played a role in helping him get placed at the JUCO he is currently at. However, it doesn't look like he's really giving the Gamecocks much consideration now... bigger fish in his pond now, it would seem.

At any rate, you have to give this young man a lot of credit for what he has done. His father was sentenced to a fairly lengthy prison sentence a few years back in a multi-million dollar mortgage fraud scheme, and as mentioned earlier he was in really bad academic shape coming out of high school. It's always great to see kids turn their lives around like this young man has, regardless of who he ultimately signs with.

Finally, the lineage is certainly there with him. His aforementioned father was the starting point guard for the Pitt basketball team in the mid-1980's, and one of his half-brothers, Mike Goodson, was a five-star tailback recruit who signed with Fran. His other half-brother, Demetri Goodson, signed to play point guard for Gonzaga last year, and he played a good bit this past March in their NCAA Tournament run.

Another tidbit on Hamilton...

The South Carolina people are furious over this one. As I mentioned earlier, he was a big South Carolina lean coming out of high school, and they were the ones who placed him at Georgia Military College, so they all expected him to resign with them once he got out of there.

However, they have -- according to them -- yet to give him an offer to this point, surprisingly enough. It sounds to me like Spurrier and company have just completely mismanaged this situation.

At the end of the day, though, I don't think it matters. Hamilton talks openly about wanting to get to the NFL, and if he's serious about that, he's not going to South Carolina over Alabama or UGA.

Looks that way. He's scheduled to graduate in December.

Hamilton is slated to announce his collegiate choice, as of right now, on August 8th.

It stills seems like a toss-up between Alabama and Georgia, though. It's hard to get a read on exactly how this young man is leaning.

You are right to a large degree. When I made the original comment, I was mainly getting at the fact that Alabama has traditionally put many more players in the NFL than South Carolina. Admittedly, though, South Carolina has done a much better job than us recently in putting DB's into the NFL, no doubt there. How much Cooper is responsible for that is a topic for another day. However, I will say that in the coming years, with the raw talent we have coming in and the DB coaching prowess of Saban, I imagine that will change.

At any rate, hopefully we'll get Hamilton. He seems to be a great athlete, and he would seemingly be able to contribute immediately. My only concern is playing time... even with Woodall graduating this year, I doubt he can definitely step in and start at 'Bama, and that may be something that Georgia can legitimately offer. In Tuscaloosa, at least one five-star recruit (Mark Barron) who will be returning for his third year will have something to say about that.
