Re: Julio Jones, Robert Lester, and B.J. Scott are officially visiting OU together

I am not so certain about Julio coming to Bama. He has visited OU and about three occasions before and is now going to make a fourth visit. Seems as though he definitely has an interest in OU.
Tebow made umpteen visits to T-Town, along with the official as well as the blowout Bama put on the Gators. FWIW

I have to admit I was skeptical when I was reading all the posts saying BJ was just going on these trips to keep Bama in the forefront of Julios mind. But after seeing that the OU people would actually ask a player of BJs caliber not to come, that has to be the only explanation.

This is the first year I've actually followed recruiting this closely. Is it always this bizarre?

True. However, ...

Julio did not grow up an Oklahoma fan. Julio does not live in Oklahoma. Julio's parents are not Oklahoma graduates. And for all of those times that Tebow visited Tuscaloosa, he visited Gainesville that many times and then some.

Moreover, and arguably most importantly, we now have Nick Saban chasing recruits and not Mike Shula.

Aside from the fact that they both involve two incredible football prospects, there really isn't any similarity between the recruitment of Tim Tebow and Julio Jones.

IMO,it is very clear.................OU got wind of BJ and his secret mission to keep JJ's eyes on Bama, and they smashed the mission.:mad:I only hope maybe JJ will talk to BJ and getted turned off enough to shut the door on OU. Oh well, most likely wishfull thinking on my part!

I guess we'll see...

I'm almost positive this is JJ's either second or third visit to OU.. but not fourth..

P.S. he visited Bama for just about every home game this year, not to mention just random trips with friends.. and we also have Lester and BJ working in our favor..

I say we get JJ.. IMO

Some of you guys worry and try to read into things way to much.Settle down and prepare yourself for the best class Bama has signed since 1990.It could even be disputed as a better one.The ship has been righted and is moving full steam ahead. We will be back to what we consider normal in the not to distant future.

I agree. Regardless of what happens from this point forward, a top five recruiting class is in the bag, and every indication is we'll continue to have this much success in recruiting under Saban.

Its funny how know one ever goes into the state of okla looking for any top recruits. Id love for CNS to call ole boob stoops up and sign the
non-crimson rusty red pretenders for a rematch home and home series. There sure as heck wont be any fake punts pulled on 4th down this time around.

Re: Julio Jones and Robert Lester are officially visiting OU. Scott's visit was cance

The general concensus out here is that the chances of J.J. committing to OU are slim to none & slim left town.

This whole episode surrounding the possibility of all three kids coming for a visit has been comical, on both OU boards & Alabama boards. I think as it stands now, Lester & J.J. are the only two coming.

One comment specifically to the poster that alluded to the fact that noone raids Oklahoma for talent.......this is simply not a statement that can be supported with facts. While I cannot provide a list of names that over the years have left the state & had success with other programs, I will mention a couple that did so recently.....Wes Welker & Robert Meachum. There are many more.....too numerous to mention. Kansas had two kids who started for them from Oklahoma & Mizzou had a couple as well. Hell, Jeremy Shockey is from Ada.

Now, let's talk about what is accurate about J.J.......does he have an uncle who lives in OKC & who he has visited on numerous occasions & in conjunction with said visits, has also visited OU...YES! Has he developed a relationship with some of our recruits at the recent HS all-star games (most specifically our QB recruit, Landry Jones)...YES!.Does the idea that he can start as a freshman intrigue him since our #1 receiver (Malcolm Kelly) opted for the draft...YES!. Is he excited about the hiring of Jay Norvell as our WR coach, a guy who has outstanding NFL WR coaching credentials...YES!.
Having said all that, clearly, the ties to Alabama are strong. The idea that he would come so far & be away from his immediate family in terms of seeing him play is remote. I have no doubt we will put the big "hotbox" on him but my guess is that in the final analysis, he will be in T-town this coming fall. No doubt, he would be the Adrian Peterson cherry on top of the cream for this outstanding class @ OU. We have commitments from 7 of the ESPN Top 150 & the top 3 players as rated by Rivals in Texas so our class is looking very good. We're rated #3 by Rivals in terms of average number of stars & #5 overall so getting J.J., while great, would not be a make or break situation. I would personally be very happy if he picked us but also happy if he picks Alabama. Saban has to take over the state to start the dynasty again & getting a player of J.J.'s caliber is certainly a step in that direction.

I'll check back in if I have anything to report from the weekend that I think is factual & worthwhile but if I am in your collective shoes, I wouldn't worry too much about this. Hell, when it's all said & done, he'll probably be a Seminole. Ha!

Re: Julio Jones and Robert Lester are officially visiting OU. Scott's visit was cance

Actually the sooners canceling scotts visit should help BAMA because him and scott have become great friends and talked of going to the same school. With ou giving scott the cold shoulder I think helps us out. Was not a smart move by ou's staff.

I do agree with the above poster JJ has a family member there and he has an interest in ou but is it enough to sway him to sign there??? NO ONE and I mean NO ONE KNOWS but JJ. All of this speculation is just that the kid has been silent since day 1 and until signing day I fully expect it to stay that way.

JJ has bonded with several recruits not just ou's recruit QB, he likes Star and Love and he and Scott seemed to form a bond. The real test is when he steps up to the platform and makes his decision then everyone can end the speculation!

I dont know if you're bragging or just telling us... but JJ would just be "cream on top of our class" also...

The only thing I find that is comical is how O? thinks they are this mythical juggernaut who can out recruit anybody (even if its against Alabama) without getting caught by the nzaa and have some sort of magical certain something that knowbody else can offer when it comes to playing college football.

I'm not sure I understand the point of your post, other than to think that you are insinuating that Bob Stoops and/or his staff are playing dirty on the recruiting trail. If you're going to say things like this, please come prepared to back them up with facts.

Re: Julio Jones and Robert Lester are officially visiting OU. Scott's visit was cance

Owen...I'll tell you one thing...if Julio DOESN'T come to Bama, I'd rather see him at OU than probably anywhere else. At least then I'll know I won't have a conflict of interests pulling for him every Saturday. I hope you're right though and he does come to Bama...even though I don't think he makes or breaks EITHER class...he could put either one over the top. Good luck to you Sooners...but....LET MY PEOPLE GO!!! COME HOME JULIO AND ROBERT!!!!!!
