Just got back from practice!

Living here in Dallas I never thought that I would be able to post this. I just got back from the open practice at SMU. My wife and kids came with me. Coach Shula took a picture with my kids before practice which was really nice of him. It was a perfect day for football. 70's and sunny. All in all kind of uneventful. You can hear Coach kines the whole time! Jimmy Johns seemed to get a lot of work. He is one big dude! Brodie looked sharp. As did JP wilson and Barnes. Guillion looked pretty good, missed on a few long throws. Saw a blocked punt during kicking drills. During scrimmage drills- Darby ran over a DB-caused some oohs and aahs. They jawwed at each other afterward but then broke it up. Noticed Keith Brown alot! Mal Moore was out there on the sidelines. Our tight ends are huge! Jp Wilson looks ready to play, and Barnes throws a really nice ball. Demeco and Peprah looked like they were having alot of fun! I really appreciate when you guys post practice reports during the year and I hope this gives you some idea of what today was like. It was a good time for me and my family and I cant wait until the game! Roll Tide!

I hope we can send BC out a winner & maybe see JPW get some game time work also. There should be some good competition next spring.

Ya' gotta love KD. Always running hard. Can't wait to see him run over a Tech LB & Safety. I sense a HUGE day for KD & the TIDE!

Darby looked great! Johns got alot more carries than I expected. McClain looked good too. Catching the ball out of the backfield. I told Coach Shula that we had classes together at UA and he said " your that old?". My wife graduated the same year(87). We will be sending copies of that picture to family and friends!
 
I was out there again today also. Beautiful day, and great to see the team. One thing I found odd, when a player is injured and cannot practice, they have to do sit ups and push ups. Man these guys are in great shape! RTR

Thanks so much for the report! It will be an experience you won't soon forget, and you have the picture to prove it. You should post it here if you can.

I took my kids to a closed practice back in '03. It was awesome, and they'll never forget it. Unfortunately I don't have a picture with Shula because Price was the coach. :eek2: One of the main things I do remember is Kines barking...that's all I know to call it. :)

I went to an open practice once, it before the 85 season, Kines was the linebacker coach and he was barking pretty loud then too, I'll never forget it because of how big the defense was, John Hand, Kurt Jarvis and one other guy that was real tall on the line, Cornelius Bennett was moving at about twice the speed of everybody else, he looked like a man against the boys.
 
I was there also, although I could not stay the whole time - had to come back to work so I could log on to Tide Fans :)

I second everything you post, and also am proud to have a picture of CMS, one arm around each of my two little girls' shoulders. He is a class act.

I think i saw your girls- wearing the UA cheerleader uniforms- they were cute-mine used to have one also, years ago. And yes, the only way to describe Kines is barking! That is too funny!
 
Isaiah, I saw ya out there with your two girls. I was in business attire next to the young bearded guy would smoked the whole time. Small world, RTR! BTW, practice will be closed tomorrow!
