Kiffin Trollin': Robinson, not Steele, is calling defense

I wish Steele and Rees were both on the sideline.

I saw BOB last night with an iPad talking to Mac. IT would seem to help the players to look their position coaches in the eyes.

I know there are advantages to being in the press box but somebody else can relay what they see and it would seem to be an advantage to be able to coach from the sideline during a game.

I say this acknowledging I've never coached one game from either the pressbox or sideline!

IMO the defense was adjusted but had more to do with the opponent as opposed to wholesale change. CT-Rob could have been given the reins but more than likely it was an input-recommendation via feedback from the players and not a complete turn over from CKS. If anyone can recognize a shift-change in a defensive calling pattern Kiffin would be at or near the top of the list.

See I just don't want this guy as my coach.

Why even say this, whether it's true or not?
Had that very same conversation with a work colleague last night.
“If and when Saban does retire, do you want Kiffin?”
Uhhh….no.
Comments like this and “get your popcorn ready” and now supposedly what was recorded in his conversation with Ole Sis player dealing with mental health issues are things the program doesn’t need to deal with. Kiffin is very entertaining with his quick wit and “trolling”. But if want that, I’ll go to Laugh Factory.

Because he’s todays Spurrier.

He loves gigging people and stirring stuff up.

I think it’s kind of funny though. Maybe because I’m like 95% sure he really doesn’t mean any harm towards us. He just can’t help himself.

It's funny at Ole Miss. I do agree.

The Spurrier comparison is very good.

Read an article from ABC about this. Not sure if all the details are there but apparently the player wouldn’t come see Kiffin when asked to multiple times. Kiffin wasn’t happy he wouldn’t come talk to him. He didn’t dismiss the mental health issues, but wasn’t happy about the players lack of communication.

I understand all that. But, assuming the transcript of the conversation is true, you simply can’t “lay into a kid” with a string of f-bombs claiming mental health issues. Certainly he can express his displeasure but he must use discernment with expressing that displeasure.

As it relates to “not dismissing” the possibility of the player’s issues; once again, if the transcript is correct, Kiffin says he’s “not saying he doesn’t have a mental health issue” on several occasions, but then remarks that “would the mental health issues go away if we let you play defense?” (Kiffin had suggested moving him to Oline or scout team in a previous meeting which the player didn’t want to do). That question alludes to the notion “I think this is all a bunch of BS because you are not getting what you want”. And Kiffin could be 100% correct. But he simply can’t say it.

So what? Nick may not have trusted T-Rob enough to give him total control of the defense, so he brought in CKS . IDK, they played well for the most part against one of the fastest playing teams in CFB. Did it really matter who called the signals? Shades of Pete Golding?

I agree. He's been sticking up for us and Saban all off-season, and even during the season. Hopefully this doesn't ruffle any feathers, because I do want him as our next coach.
