Lawsuit seeks to allow top HS wide receiver to proft from NIL

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

Honestly, I'm more in favor of HS kids getting NIL than I am college athletes. HS athletes do not get the perks and amenities the college kids do. Most HS districts have strict transfer rules so it's not like kids can literally go play wherever they want to like they can in college. The NIL would probably work more like it was designed to do on the HS level than on the college level.

Pertaining to this article, it appears Ohio highschool athletic association doesn't allow HS athletes to participate in NIL. I'm guessing other states do.

NIL in high school is inevitable. Georgia is already doing it and we have seen some of the top players in Alabama move across the line. It is going to cause the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer. The days of watching the small rural school have great teams with great athlete's is over. Kid's with ability will be moving to the larger schools where they can be paid and their families can be taken care of. It has already been happening at many schools (Thompson comes to mind), but will be done out in the open and not secretly. The truth is sports as we know it will no longer exist.

What in the heck are we doing? This is beyond out of control. Now, I agree we should be living in more of a meritocracy, but paying high school kids NIL money? I see this going very poorly for a large number of high school athletes unless there are some real guardrails such as this money being placed in a trust etc.

Meh...Entitling kids and taking away power and influence from adults...what could go wrong?
