I know he had to cancel his visit over the summer but he does have us in his top 4. Right now he says that Clemson and FSU are tied with UA and UF following up. But we are the only school he has not been to yet. Clemson he really likes because the small town college atmoshpere and he has grown up a FSU fan and has a great relationship with their coaches. He said we will get an official visit this fall which could be huge.

We have several things going for us. One if he thinks Clemson is a great college town, wait until he visits TTown, and I have been Clemson and would agree, but still give the edge to UA especially on game day. Remember he grew up a fan of FSU and Clemson is tied with them now because of the colloege town. Second he has stated many times he wants to go to a program that gives him the best chance to win. UA speaks for itself right now. And third he looks to be announcing around NSD which I think once he visits and the seasons goes as we hope our chances should increase dramatically.

Again I think our chances are decent right now, but until we get a visit we just stay in the hunt. Anyone else have any inside info or thoughts on what our chances our?

re: Tony Steward Update

You hit the nail right on the head there. It speaks wonders about our chances that we are listed as one of his favorites yet he hasnt even come in and seen the greatest campus and program in College football. Once he visits we will quickly jump into the lead, IMO. As we progress through the season and he watches us beat good to great teams each and every week on TV, our chances will no doubt get better.

The only thing I'm am wondering is if C. Grant commits to us before NSD, then hw will likely go to Clemson. But anyway, this guy is the real deal. He is huge, scary, and runs low. He will fit amazingly into our defensive scheme plus with Kirby's and Saban's coaching, the potential in HUGE.:BigA:

While I don't disagree w/ your post at all, I take a little issue w/ the bolded portion. Alot of people say this (so I'm not entirely picking on you), but I honestly believe that there are plenty of recruits out there (both elite and not elite) that want to be part of an "up and coming program". They want to be one of the THE GUYS that take a program to the next level. Just sayin... I know for a fact that this happens plenty in college athletics.

That said, Tony will probably end up at a program that is already at the top.

That is why I like our chances, plus alot of rumors floating around that UF leads for C Grant. If that is the case I do not see both going to UF at this point. FSU seems to be the current flavor of the month but yet being in the top groups for a lot of players and even if they land them all they are a few years away from getting back to the top. The same could also be said for Clemson.

If he does show up for an OV I think our chances for TS will be very good.

So you don't think he goes to FSU or Clemson?
FSU possibly... Probably not Clemson. Clemson has seemed to be on the top of many recruits list and then they end up committing elsewhere. FSU, on the other hand, is a program on the move w/ the class they're bringing in this year.

Rivals has us listed in his top 4 along with Clemson, FSU and UCLA. He has already set his official visit for us to 1/07/2011. Rivals also shows that he is still visiting Florida in Mid-December, though he only has "Medium" interest in them.

FSU took a few LBs last year. they are pretty deep. We have 2 things going for us with TS. One we are in his top 4 and he has yet to visit. Two he wants to go to school in a college town.

I agree but right now if I had to guess I would say he ends up at either FSU or Clemson but Bama still has a pretty good chance obviously.

Senior LB, Menendez

You’re one of the top overall recruits in the country. What advice would you give kids growing up that want to play linebacker?

You have to be really confident in your abilities and love playing football. You have to try hard every down and never take a play off. Be glad you have the opportunity.

Why would he visit on the 7? The coaches won't be around to see him. They'll be in Arizona. :biggrin2:

Well if Bama is fortunate enough to be in the BCSC game again this year it will be on Jan. 10th. What better situation could you have than to have to reschedule Steward's official visit due to participation in the NC game?

A recent development is that Steward plans on unofficially visiting Bama for the upcoming UF game on Oct. 2nd.

No kidding...that would almost be an unfair recruiting call.

He can make that visit to Glendale with the team. ;) That way he knows the National Championship trip routine.

re: Tony Steward Update

The interesting news I heard today is that Steward and C Grant want to play together. VT dramatic fall from grace looks to have Grant leaving the state of VA. The only 3 schools to make both of their final lists are UA, Clemson, and UF. I know Grant was pretty high on us at one time and Steward has always had us in his final group without ever visiting us. I also knew Grant liked UF and they have turned up the heat on Steward lately. If they go together I would put us in pretty good shape I think for both especially after Steward visits.

Does anyone know if Grant will also be at the UF game? Could you imagine adding those two to our current LB commits? Calloway, DePreist, Brown, Steward, and Grant.

Interesting info. Thanks.

Could we possibly take that many LBs - six including Clowney - in one class? I don't see how that's possible.
