Le Tour 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026!

I don’t know if you noticed this yesterday @Bazza but the mountain they were on had three lanes. One for bikes going up, one for bikes going down, and one lane for walkers. That was cool to see that people have the option to do that mountain without worrying about car traffic.

Yes thanks, noticed that as well, @Con - and was watching today when JV had to exit the race. Very sad. Hoping for a complete recovery.

Congratulations to RE for today's stage win! Quite an accomplishment in the face of the criticisms he has received on his climbing ability. As a side note, the win would have (probably) been TP's had he not been trying so hard to assist his teammate IdT, who was also a victim of the same crash that resulted in JV's exit from de T. Even so, a respectable effort - and coupled with what he will probably achieve on Tuesday's ITT, puts him in solid position for a podium finish this year.

That was my thought too. If Pogacar would have gone for the win after the first attack failed by DelToro he would have won it. RE had a great finish against the two of them. This should make the time trial much more fun since now there are several spots up for grabs now that Vingegaard is out.

And confirms that TP is a good guy - not contesting RE for his win today. Real sportsmanship!

The Tour de France lost one more overall contender on stage 16, with Florian Lipowitz (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) suffering a high-speed crash in a turn in the final kilometres.

The German, fifth overall, was second-fastest at the third time check and nearing the finish when he lost traction in a right turn and crashed hard.

After a long wait, Lipowitz finally emerged clutching his arm in a telltale sign of a possible collarbone fracture.

Other than that it was an awesome ITT.

RE was incredible!

If RE would have had a better day when Pidcock really tried pushing the envelope he may be applying a little more pressure on Pogacar. Stages 18-20 are just brutal so he may be too far back to truly challenge for the win, but 2nd place looks good for him.

Results from today and where we stand in the GC. I like the close race for the White Jersey......what happens there should be very interesting with the remaining stages. Especially if Adam Yates, who fell today and looked banged up a bit, cannot provide assist to TP and 'The Mexican' has to fill in.

Nice to see Carapaz get the win today!

Sadly, UAE's Brandon McNulty, one of the American's, had to abandon due to illness.

Some speculation now that TP will be subject to attacks with a weakened UAE team. I don't see it myself, but with two big mountain stages left - who knows?

I was happy for Carapaz too. He has really tried a couple of other times the last week and it finally worked. I think Pogacar wants to win these last two mountain stages because they both finish on Alpe d’Huez. They are both going to be tough. If someone attacks him they will earn the tour win for sure.

Well, TP came back and got them in the end. I appreciate it when these guys go all out for the stage wins. He could have coasted across the finish line on Sunday but today and tomorrow matter. Carapaz had another strong day today. He is in the top ten.
