Funny!

Anybody who didn't see that coming is not very bright.

If a statue of an opposing teams mascot were placed in an SEC town, it wouldn't last 15 minutes.:)

the story behind this was: nike set up a competition between ohio state and florida to see who could run the most miles in a certain period of time. whoever won their mascot would be erected on the losing teams campus. pretty funny video. i like it when the people look around before they kick the gator. haha

OSU fans are so classless. I have zero respect for any of them. I saw this clip of their version of "tailgating" from a few years ago (walking around with cases of warm beer, throwing down all their trash on the streets, urinating in stairwells) and that was all it took. Take a look and see what I mean...watch the whole thing.

Adds insult to injury for being embarrassed in front of millions during the BCS game. I love it!! I can't believe it lasted 5 hours. Just like in the BCS game, OSU is too slow in getting it done.

Can't say I'm shocked. I started feeling bad for those Michigan fans. Which is funny because if you filmed the osu/um tailgating in Ann Arbor, it would probably be very similar. This makes the singing of rammer jammer seem very classy.

How many remember the tiger that was placed outside of Dreamland 2001. It was made of rubber and the first group of students who spotted it took it off the property and hung it off Interstate 85 after painting it Crimson and White with with the score 31 - 7. Two barners let the cat out of the bag while bragging about it. They took it from a day care center in auburn. Both were charged with theft. Oddly enough no one was ever charged with the hanging of the poor little rubber tiger.

I live in Columbus and most of my staff are Ohio State grads. I don't find them classless at all. In fact they have a genuine respect for our program. They also are VERY emotional about their team. This city lives and breathes Buckeye football. I feel for them. Do you honestly think that a statue of a mascot of some team that handed Bama a beating would last very long if placed on the Strip less than a month after the beating? I don't think so.

As for the video, I have seen some pretty crazy stuff at all kinds of sporting events when alcohol is involved. When you get 100,000 people amassed in any location you are likely to be able to film alot of "classless" stuff going on. Its not fair to call all OSU fans classless because of the actions of a few.

Just my two cents from somebody who deals with these folks on a daily basis.

Actually, I've attended many college football games in many different venues over about 20 years and alcohol was usually involved. I have yet to see a spectacle like what's on that video. I appreciate and respect your "inside" perspective, and you are right that I probably shouldn't throw the whole OSU fanbase out with the bath water, so to speak, BUT you have to admit that so many people showing so much disrespect to other fans AND their own football stadium (and surrounding areas) is likely reflective of a similar attitude (or an unwillingness to confront the bad behavior) by the rest of the fanbase.

Sorry, but I have a very hard time imagining this type of behavior being tolerated, say, at the Capstone on a gameday Saturday. Just my opinion.

You're right, it wouldn't be tolerated. And I'd certainly be embarrassed if it happened.

That gator lasted longer than I thought it would.

If the Barn were to set up a statue like that on campus here, it wouldn't exist anymore quicker than the gator lasted.

The statue offered more resistance than the Buckeye football team..........Or their basketball team.
Ok. The football team comment was funny and I laughed, but the basketball comment was incorrect. OSU is a Number One seed in the NCAA tourney, have one of the best defensive basketball teams in the nation and won the Big 10. You know what they say about people in glass houses.

Yeah but the football team was also rank #1, won the Big 11 and had one of the best offenses in the nation - before they played the championship game.

While the BB team schedule is a little tougher then OSU football schedule was, I am still not convinced they should be ranked #1.

Just my opinion and living in Columbus too, I refuse to root for them no matter what. So my opinion may be a little biased.

I don't root for them either. I am quite indifferent. I don't think they are necessarily the best team in America, but they have won 17 games in a row. Their football team got their tails kicked by the Gators (a game I won quite a bit of money on here in the office getting odds against the OSU homers). I just didn't think it made sense to criticize their basketball team at this point considering they have been pretty successful and our's flamed out and is going to the NIT. That sounds a bit like sour grapes.

I prefer to reserve my criticism for the great pumpkin in knoxpatch and the toothless denizens of the cow college.
