How many catches have our Tight Ends made in our first three games ? I know they are being used in pass and run blocking schemes, but it doesn't seem like Coach Rader is using them much as receivers. Perhaps we are saving them as a "wrinkle" for later in the season. Not complaining, just wondering. rtr... :conf2:

We have only thrown a few their way, and I don't remember one being completed. We have had success throwing to the FB on occasion, to great effect.

I suspect that Shula is either holding it back or not using the TE for a reason. I trust Shula's judgement..

Is this Shula holding back or is Brodie simply not using the TE's as an escape valve? I doubt that you are going to see many, if any, plays designed around the TE as the primary target. What you will see is Brodie checking into a play where he can dump the ball to the TE when he reads a blitz. Or a play where he is forced out of the pocket and needs to unload the ball. Perhaps Brodie just hasn't figured out what a useful target the TE can be. JMHO

I would believe that any pass to the TE would have to be a design play, since the TE position is crucial for blocking right now. For that reason I would think that the TE has been virtually left out of the passing game purposedly. Maybe the lack of depth is a reason. As far as wrinkles being left out for later use, I think seeing Prothro in the backfield means wrinkles are being considered. Nick is a talent and I would really like to see him used, but blocking may be too strong of a need right now. Thats my thinking.

I think the lack of TE use goes with what others have said here.

Our OL needs help and he provides another body to give Brodie time.

When our OL gets better, we can use him out in coverage.

I love seeing Leonard Pope catch balls for 15-20 yards whenever UGA is on.

I can't wait to use Nick like that
