You know, Lou needs to retire before he goes absolutely completely off his rocker ( if he's not already there ). Mark May is a comic. I like watching them to see what nonsense they're gonna come up with. I definitely don't take them too seriously. ESPN is strictly fun entertainment anymore. No real serious college football news anymore.

ESPN needs to lose Holtz and get someone who speak clearly and who doesn't project ND to win the MNC every five minutes no matter which team he's supposed to be talking about. ESPN has become unbearable to watch when he is on. I usually just flip the channel now.

Granny's picks are the same every week:

Notre Dame will beat whoever they are playing;
South Carolina will beat whoever they are playing;
Minnesota will beat whoever they are playing;
Arkansas will beat whoever they are playing; and
wherever else he may have coached will beat whoever they are playing.

It would be laughable if it weren't so sad...

Let me ask ya'll this about Lou: I havent' always just exactly zeroed in on him - not till he was at S-Carolina actually - but do ya'll think his age has anything to do with this- I mean as in, do you think he's slippin a little bit? (Or mayybe he's always had this mindset for thinking?) - I honestly don't know, which is why I'm asking for opinions here.

I was shocked last night. He said that the Appy. State win was not an upset. I immediatey turned off the television.

My father told me along time ago to never put your friends in front of your work. It seems to me he is protecting his buddy Lloyd Carr.

Could we email this thread to an ESPN producer. I hope someone is paying attention over there.

Kirk Herbstreit is the smartest guy over there.

I can't believe that he calls AU "the University of Auburn" when he actually coached in the SEC. And his "game to watch" for this week was UConn vs Duke... All you really can say when you watch him is "WOW!"
Let's not forget him calling South Carolina... yes, the school he coached, "The University of USC"... Wow...

Also, he said during the "25 Hours of College Football" that Notre Dame will win 10 games this year because of their heart. Yeah....

Last night Holts was talking about how good Notre Dame was going to be, and the look on Mays face said it all.
Mark May was in shock with Holtz' comments. Holtz, The Chicago Sun Times, and several others were talking about how good ND was going to be in 2007. Last season The Sporting News had ND winning the NC last season?

Without a QB it will be hard for the Irish to roll. When you get whipped at home 33-3 (could have been worse) on National TV its not a pretty sight. Playing three QB's who looked like the Keystone Cops out there is a coaching issue. I have nothing against Charlie Weiss but I thought he was suppose to be an offensive genius. Not having a QB ready for the start of the season is a signature for disaster.

Kevin White the AD at Notre Dame has decided not to play Alabama or any other SEC team. Good thinking on his part.

Yeah- I agree. I thought ND looked completely out of sync all day yesterday and was not prepared. Credit GTech for coming ready to play. Their "D" was terrific and seemed to have an answer for anything ND did. I read some comments on the Irish board that were eerily similar to what some of our fans were saying last year under XCMS. One poster said he knew what the play was going to be based on the package Weiss sent in and if he as a fan could figure it out, then most certainly opposing teams could. How familiar does that sound?

In all seriousness, it appears to me that Holtz has been slipping, mentally, for several years now. His speech patterns have also changed. I believe there's a possibility that something could be going on from a medical standpoint.

Regardless, ESPN could do much better in that slot. Remember the reason he's even there is because Trev Alberts quit/got fired a couple of years back. Otherwise, Holtz would be enjoying his grandkids at the moment.

I love Mark May. He obviously understands how freaking senile Granny is.
Mark May is just as big of an idiot as lou is. he's just there as his "polar opposite" so they can argue all the time. often his claims can be as outlandish as holtz's, just in the other direction. like a few years ago when he said notre dam would be "lucky to go 1-4 in their first five." in reality they went 4-1. it's not like mark may is some unbiased football genius....he has his favorite teams too (USC). the thing is, i think a lot of people (not all) just dislike lou's views....if may and holtz were flipped (may pimped notre dame, south carolina, minnesota, ark.; holtz pimped USC and typically talked up Alabama) everyone here would be talking about what a fool May is and how he needs to be gone. in reality both of them are buffoons and espn would be better with both of them gone. but, alas, that could mean lower ratings.
