Louisiana-Lafayette's play-by-play guy Jay Walker says if LSU does not turn the ball over then LSU beats Bama by double digits. His comments are at the very end of this New Orleans Bowl preview:

Keep in mind that Lafayette -- is only 40 miles or so from Baton Rouge -- it's LSU Country. He HAS to be an LSU Homer.....he's a Sports Radio Big Wig here -- he's be butchered on the air if he didn't play the Homer card!

Let them all keep thinking that. Remember 1992? All the UM folks were saying we didn't belong on the same field with the 'Canes. Turns out they were right - just not for the reason they thought!

Until January 9th, it's just our homers against their homers. All speculation is just that and if our coaches and players are taking things seriously, then we'll be fine. I can think of two quotes here "That which does not kill us will surely make us strong" - Friedrich Nietzsche. (After losing the first game, I think our boys were re-forged stronger as a result.)
and "The outcome of any contest is decided in the minds of the participants before the event begins" - Sun Tzu
(I think our guys have already decided who's gonna win.......)

Bama just needs to not hurt themselves with "too many men on the field" penalties as was the case on Nov. 5th. Those penalties caused the ball to be placed out of the kickers range or out of make-able yardage to go for it. Show discipline, and we will have a win.

I feel we will have to win decisively also. I can see a possible split champion this year. if we only win by <=7 then I will predict the BCS going to Bama and the AP going to LSU resulting in dual champions. So the win has to be double digits for Bama to be unanimous. LSU will just have to win by 1 point to receive both trophies. The pressure is all on Bama.

He has been mentioned on this board before. He bashes BAMA because he knows it will get him some attention. Apparently, it worked.

Who? Play by play guy? For ULL?

I have to admit I'm not really concerned about anything he has to say.

Has no effect on the game

Neither does anything Freddie Coleman, Mel Kiper, Todd McShay, Danny Sheridan, Paul Finebaum, Kirk Herbstreit, Lou Holtz, Mark May, Robert Smith, Craig James, Mike Leech, Jesse Palmer, or any other 'experts' have to say.

The game will be decided between the white chalk on Jan. 9, 2012.

That is all.

They couldn't beat us by double digits in November, what makes this obvious homer think LSU is good enough to beat by double digits? He can't, thus he is talking out of his rear end.

Seriously? I see just the opposite, all the pressure is on LSU and it has nothing to do with the AP or a split championship. I don't think our team cares one way or another about what the AP does, I know I don't. On the night we play, the BCS trophy is on the line, win it, even by a point, and everyone will recognize you as national champions, regardless of what the AP does. Most people feel LSU was a bit fortunate to win the first game, as they were certainly outplayed. It's just as easy to say the pressure is all on LSU to prove they're the better team and that the first game wasn't a fluke. LSU is #1, the pressure is squarely on them to prove they are.

I agree completely. Plus, somewhere in the back of their minds our histotorical dominance of this series has to be causing no small amount of angst. They know that this is exactly the kind of game that Alabama has built it's storied tradition upon......not so much them.
