This loss will help

When the NCAA tournament comes around, i think this loss will help. It shows the players that they need to keep their heads in the game the entire 40 minutes(ie not blocking out in last second and not guarding bass on the inbounds at the end of the half). I thought we were gonna get smoked in the first 5 minutes but we tightened up on D and we got ourselves back into it. It was a great game.

1 word-Rebounding

thats why we lost. It was a great comeback, but we did not shoot the ball well & just got killed on the boards. Despite not playing near our potential & LSU playing about as well as they can, we still had a chance to win. That shows we're a very good team.

I still think we beat UK by 10 or more on Saturday.

Dang. So close too.

LSU played a great game (and had to) to pull it out. Great poise by Alabama though not giving up and fighting their way back when EVERYTHING was going LSU's way early. Too bad Alabama's perimeter game never really showed up. If we could've knocked down more perimeter shots it would've opened things up even more inside (not to mention given us more points.) Hopefully we'll start getting lucky on some of these long bounce rebounds too. It seems like we only get about 1 out of every 3 or 4 of those in almost every single game we play. Second chance points off those rebounds have killed us.

I never buy into the fact that a loss helps. It hurts our seeding and it could have cost us the SEC and the SEC west. I understand where you are coming from, but a close win is always better than a hard fought loss.

Great Game!

Our Guys Played Hard Tonight Especially Jean Felix. We Got Beat On A Fluke Play But Those Things Happen In College Basketball. Lace 'em Up And We Will Do It Again Saturday In T-town Where We Dont Lose!!! Roll Tide Roll!!!!!

We didn't get much from our guards either. Shelton didn't have a good game at all. He should have a monster game Sat. I know Winston carried us but how many shots around the goal did he miss? Sure seemed like a lot.

Agreed. This one hurts but losing should hurt. It's fitting we'd lose on a rebound tip-in at the buzzer. I don't know if I've ever seen a team score two buzzer beaters in the same game. I'm proud of our guys from coming back from the big hole they were in early. Now it's back home to face the Big Blue! RTR!

I dont know about anyone else but I was almost sick of all the "Big Baby" talk. When he was shooting and rebounding he pushed off to get separation nearly everytime inside. It was a hard one to lose. The shots just weren't falling for them tonight. Hopefully they'll bounce back and be ready for the Cats.

ROLL TIDE!

did you notice how lucky LSU got with long rebounds. It seemed like the ball would fly off the back iron on almost every shot they took.
I've been noticing that almost all season. Even in games we've won we just rarely seem to get the long bounce rebounds. It's as if the ball makes a beeline to our opponent. In some games (Florida and this game) it proved to be backbreakers giving a quality team like these two the chance to bury you with second chance points. In others (South Carolina) it didn't prove decisive.

I'm not sure why that is. It could be due to our weak perimeter defense. Our guards are often out of position and end up having to lunge at the last second at the shooter and have all their momentum going the other way when the ball bounces back toward them while the shooter is leaning forward and can get to the ball quicker. Part of it could just be a little bad luck with the long bounces. Who knows. I just would like to see us get more of them. It kills us against good teams.

Alabama's opponents have gotten way too many offensive rebounds the past two games. South Carolina had at least 6 before the 9 minute mark in the first half, and lswho had more than a handful this evening. Did you see Shelton before the oppening tip? His eyes were as big as half dollars. I swear he looks like that on every road game, and I just knew he was going to have a horrendous game.

The ironic thing is that they will probably beat kentucky by double digits and cow college by 40, but lose to mswho simply because it's a road game.

I hope Chuck learns a lesson out of that, and learns to play until the final buzzer. There is no excuse for not blocking out on that play.

Ah, chuck knows he got beat on that play but i thought he had a good game overall. I mean thats part of it. each one knew they had to box the other out and unfortunatly the other guy won that battle, then the war. and what a war it was. I just wish shelton could have been on a little nmore.

Hey lets be honest

Do we teach fundamental basketball or do these players just do not know how to box out when rebounding. I am sick of watching our guys refuse to get a body between the other team when rebounding. This was a all game thing, but especially noticed on that last tip in when we let the guy crash by not 1 but 2 of our guys and no one tried to cut him off by just getting their back on him. It was just pathetic effort and we deserve to lose if we can not play smarter!

I hate to say it, but I think we dont get the offensive rebounds b/c we get outhustled at times, especially on the road. They seem very tentative outside of Coleman
