Well,

I am a grad student and faculty member at USC and we just got done with a luncheon with the ole ball coach. He seems pretty confidence this year. Talks of this is the year for a SEC Championship for the University of South Carolina, otherwise known as the other USC. It is funny to see the different coaching styles of people. CNS implies we'll be awful, CSS all but guarantees an SEC Championship.

Spurrier knows what he's doing. He probably thinks this team needs all the confidence it can get going into the season. Their schedule is as tough as it gets.

In some respects I think they have completely opposite goals in dealing with the fan base. Spurrier is trying to convince the team and the fan base that they CAN win it; whereas, Saban is trying to convince the fan base that just being ALABAMA isn't enough and that we can't expect to win it EVERY year.

I think this year may be USC's best shot at the East.

Capital observation, Tider;)

I don't thing USC will win ther east, thwy will win some games, but will fall short to UGA. I like UGA to win the east.

I agree Vinny. USC, even with SOS will not win the SEC East. They are a much improved team who in most years are an 8-9 win team, but cannot beat UF and UGA on a regular basis which they would have to do to win the SEC East.

They don't have to do it regularly, they just have to do it all in one year.

While SOS may have yet to beat the dawgs, he has split the two games he has coached against the Gators. Florida barely escaped that game last year. USC could win the east and maybe the conference this year as well as next. I think Spurrier is really close to having USC become a perennial power in conference play.
