"Major Mastermind" fro AL.COM

I just started to post the same link. Sounds like the old Rice and new Tulsa head coach is a complete jerk. He didn't want to give Major his due but the defensive coach stood up for Major.

:biga:

I read it this morning on in Birmingham News. It really sounds like the Tulsa got a jerk for a head coach. It also sounds like the Rice QB Clement put him in his place when he attempted to take credit for MA's offensive prowess. Him saying that the offense was his and not majors and then Clement said that he was a defensive coach who likely didn't know one of the offensive plays was pretty funny.

Seeing how both coaches left, it seems much more plausible that it is very accurate as well. Had MA stayed with Rice and that same discussion took place you would think it was more of sour grapes after their coach bolted....however, since both coaches left it definitely seems very honest and accurate.

What a find by Saban! I know the Texas system is very formidable, so if he is basing our offense off the Longhorn's...then I know we'll succeed.

Todd Graham did really sound like a jerk, that's for sure. In either case, Major seems like the perfect guy to be at Alabama.

... Major seems like the perfect guy to be at Alabama.

Agree 100%. He'll do a great job, and has the perfect background.

As a player he was talented enough, but not all-world talent. Went through some controversies with the more-talented, but less-intellectual Simms. Always conducted himself with class, and came out a huge winner when it was all over.

But most of all, he's an Alabama guy through and through. He wants to be here, and it's a shame he didn't get to play here. Chalk it up to DuBose and Cottrell going after only players the recruiting writers said were good.

I think he's the next Jimbo Fisher. He might be a little inexperienced to be an OC in the SEC right now, but that will change over the next couple of years. He'll be the OC at Alabama or some other big name school no later than the 2009 season. Hope it's at Alabama.

This is one of those articles that sticks with you for a long time. Everyone was happy when we landed Major, but every new piece of info. that comes out about him gets me more excited.

The greatest weapon you can have on offense is a qb that can take control of the game with his head. I feel Major can provide our qbs that skill...I'm getting anxious to find out all the coaches official responsibilities(even if he's not a co-offensive coordinator, he'll be on the development program and have influence).

What impressed me about the article is the part that talked about how he's constantly making adjustments on the field. Something that has been severely lacking in recent years. Seems like CMS had a set game plan and wasn't equipped to make changes. That takes a combination of knowledge and imagination. Opposing coaches figured this out eventually and that led to the miserable offensive showing we've had. The article also talks about his ability to call things off the top of his head better than anybody. This I like VERY much. Any OC that can analyze that quickly and make adjustments is a Major Blessing. Major could be a Major aquisition for us.
