I understand how many of you feel but I will say unequivocally that Mayfield is the best QB to ever play at OU. I am an old fart so my memory bank harks back to Fran Tarkenton. He's got some Roger STAUBACK to in him as well. Today, Russell Wilson or Drew Brees come to mind. He's at least 6' tall and he's very thick...sturdy. His footwork and escape ability is uncanny. He has a strong arm and is very accurate, especially on the run...and he's an incredible leader. It's not my style to hype a player just because He's a Sooner but this kid is special.
I agree, he is a great player. That makes it more of a shame that his attitude stinks. He reminds me of Cam Newton.

I have seen more than one first round projection on him...to the Cardinals and to the Steelers as well. I've also seen quotes from numerous NFL scouts who are not concerned about his attitude. I hope he has a bright future but only time will tell
Steelers would be a great place for him. There are people in that organization who would "check" him before he could get out of control.

The NCAA is so incensed by Baker Mayfield’s actions they have decide to declare Mason Rudolph, quarterback of Oklahoma State, ineligible for the first half of the Cowboys’ game against Kansas... (blue font)

I don't think he should be punished. The only thing he's guilty of is being crude on a dead weekend in college football. Do I like him? No but this is a total whatever.
I'm assuming you didn't see the live video of what he was doing both physically and verbally. He should have been ejected by the officials on the spot, and since they didn't, absolutely the conference should have suspended him for a game. The minute college football starts acting like the NFL and accepting this crap, the sooner game tickets are going to get a lot cheaper....and I think that's already happening.

Agreed. The Staubach comparison is especially fitting. He eludes a pass rush better than anyone I’ve ever seen. My favorite Sooner qbs have always been Steve Davis and Thomas Lott but this kid, despite his unsportsmanlike conduct against Kansas and Ohio State, is the most talented person to play at that position in Norman in my 49 year lifetime. Based strictly on performance— I think —as I predicted preseason—he deserves the heisman and right now I think that he and his team are playing better than anybody.

All that being said, I predict he will be a total flop in the NFL.

I've seen video of Greg McElroy flipping off Auburn fans during the Iron Bowl. This is a sport built on passion. Mayfield plays with passion. I dare say if he were the Alabama QB you'd be all in. We love him and wouldn't trade him for anyone. He was subjected to a litany of crap from the Jayhawks including an obscene gesture from an assistant coach...not to mention a deliberate hit that was clearly intended to injure him. Whether he does well in the pros is anybody's guess. Regardless, you may think he's a punk but he's our punk and well go to war with him any day.

Your eyes deceived you. I've seen the same video and Greg was holding his mouthpiece in his left hand with his thumb and index finger. He wasn't intentionally sticking the bird at anyone.

The only taunting I remember him doing was the 'Hook-em-horns' at Texas after the BCSCG for not recruiting him. He probably shouldn't have done that but that's fairly mild.

As far as Mayfield we would probably tolerate it but we wouldn't be 'all in'. We are pretty tough on our players often fighting among ourselves when then do something wrong outside of the game.

He's a punk. He's your punk and I understand that Sooner fans will have his back....but he's definitely a big-time punk.

I would like to see him in playoff, by then we have some defenders back, see how he would stack up against our D at full strength. Never happen cause for all his plays they will not make playoffs.
