Here's a blurb I scraped from a UNC website:

As others have stated, Davis is the leader of the team. Keep him in check and you have a good chance of beating them. BAMA has now done that two years in a row!

As previously mentioned, Rylan Griffen was the guy that shut him down last year. If my arithmetic is correct, Davis went 0-for-9 from three last year.

Equally as impressive, this year, was shutting down Cadeau. He had only 1 point.

That's what I call a job well done! :)
.
If he thought Rylan Griffeth was lanky and hard to shoot over, I wonder how he felf about Jarid Stephenson last night at 6'10"ish???

A couple of things about the game/season:

1. I made a prediction Mallette would be a surprise/sleeper for us in the preseason. I had no idea he'd end up potentially red-shirting (which apparently there were a couple of reasons; depth and an injury), but I think y'all can see why I'm so high on him. He's got a great shooting motion...butter with a syrupy glaze!

2. We are NOWHERE near playing our best ball yet! I thought the rotations were better last night. We are still turning over the ball way too much. For instance, I think our first 3 possessions last night from tip were TO's (maybe one of them was a forced shot at the end of the clock). At another key time when they went on a run we had another 3 straight possessions with TOs. That's got to improve and I know it will. But the point is this team is nowhere near its potential just yet! AND THAT IS SCARY!

3. Bonus thought: How does Youngblood start fitting into the rotation??? I mean, it's an embarrassment of riches we have at the guard spot! My understanding is he is a bull in a china shop-type shooting guard!

I think we just overwhelmed UNC with our size and speed. They are quick too, but I head the play by play guy or Jay Williams (who remained pretty neutral) say UNC plays one guy who's over 6'10" and we consistently play four!

Nelson, Cliff and Stevenson are all listed at 6'11" and Sherrell is only listed at 6"10" but he looks to be closer to 7'0". And then throw in Reid at 6'8" and Mou Dio who is only listed at 6'7" but plays closer to 6"10' IMO and we are just so long and lanky it drives teams crazy!

Got home last night in time to watch the second half. Just echoing what others have said ... This team looks awesome and there's still room for improvement. Cut down on the turnovers and the periodic sloppiness and no more injuries ... I don't know if there is a team out there that can beat Bama on a neutral court. And this team sure is fun to watch. Good times! RTR!

It really makes me wonder how he will fit in also. I think we have all been surprised by the play of Holloway. He's surprised me more than anyone. I would have expected Youngblood to step right back in but ALL of our guards are playing really well.

Think we've looked best when Philon and Holloway are on the court together. Maybe put YB and Sears out there together? We've got too much talent to play around with.

Is this the basketball equivalent of "planting your flag at midfield?"
I was raising hell from Row W in Section 213. You know that HUGE TV board - yeah I was buried behind that but didn't care. The daughter is a senior at UNC but she still rocked the Bama sweatshirt and cheered for us. Funny enough 3 or 4 of her friends were around us and looked at her like "what the hell?"

It reminded me of games in Baton Rouge :)

As good as Trelly was, I think his presence made it difficult on Oats - rotation wise. It’s tough to get equal playing time for 4 guards, and Trelly wasn’t going to sit because of his tenure. I think going forward it’s easier to get minutes spread out between Sears, Philon, and Holloway with Mallette playing about 10 minutes per game. This will also help them get into a better rhythm and flow - which I think happened last night.

As far as Youngblood goes, I think he splits a lot of time at the 3 with Reid. He might play the 2 occasionally, but I think he’ll slot in at the 3 more often than not.

Hope your "lemonade from lemons" is sweet as it sounds.
