Is anyone remembering that Loyola Marymount knocked a very talented Wimp Sanderson team out of the tournament that year way back long ago when they set that record?
I was a freshman at Bama that year and that loss hurt me more than any other has ever since.
It's a weird kind of catharsis to see Bama knock Loyola Marymount out of that top spot for shooting threes, some 35 years after they beat us in that game that went down to the last possession.
I was 14 almost 15 and watching with my dad. when our last shot missed we both made the same expletive.I was 11 in March 1990. I’m sure I filled out a few brackets with my dad but probably didn’t watch many of the games. Video games, watching movies and drooling over the Victoria Secret catalog consumed my “free time†back then. Shoot, 2 of those still do.![]()

and that was under Mark Gottfried. Remenber the Antoine Pettaway buzzer beater shot to beat #1 StanfordI do. Wimp had some very good teams but struggled to get out of the Sweet 16. I think we had only one Elite 8 appearance.
Very reminiscent of Bama vs LSU in 2021That was an amazing display of offensive power! I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it! So proud of our guys. They could have beaten anybody tonight!
