McShay just named AJ Green the best player in college football. Can he be serious. He may be the best receiver, but even that is debatable. How can anyone argue Green is better than Ingram. I don't think you can make a logical argument. Who do yall think is the nation's best player?

Yeah, I don't see what the problem is with someone stating a football player who's guaranteed to be a top 10 draft pick is the best player in the nation. Who cares? Why get worked up about it? These guys are paid to give their opinions, they're not all going to say that Alabama's #1 or that Ingram is the best player in the country.
If he had said something crazy like "Mario Fannin is the best player in the country." Then we'd have a story on our hands. But AJ Green is pretty talented, and McShay's opinion is justified whether I agree with it or not.

I haven't seen AJ play much, but I don't know if he is even the best player in the SEC. I think Marcel or Ingram or Richardson may be better. Call me a homer

I was just trying to start a discussion and was not getting worked up about it. I know he is entitled to his opinion. I just happen to disagree with him. I think AJ Green is great.
The best receiver in America will prove to be Deandre Brown from Southern Miss. He's 100% healthy and finally out of trouble...lol

He's a great talent, but aren't you being a bit of a homer on that? How many WRs his size have actually made it long term in the NFL? Reggie Williams, Mike Williams, Roy Williams, David Boston, Charles Rogers, and Rashaun Woods were all similar sized WRs that were high draft picks in the NFL. They are had trouble adjusting to the speed of the NFL. Roy Williams is the only one who is arguably still a "good" NFL WR, and he may not be the "go to guy" for Dallas.
Nation's best player is such a tough decision. Now Green might be a top 5 WR in the nation, but as far as best in the nation, that is way too broad.
As far as stats vs level of competition goes: Green is the best reciever in college football. Julio is the victim of a strong running game and injuries, but AJ Green deserves his due.
Deandre Brown is a fantastic reciever, however there are fewer shoe clerks and crum bums playing DB in the SEC than in CUSA.
RB's just dont tend to go as high in the Draft as WR's. It's quickly becoming a passing league and guys like Green are so valuable for an NFL team.
I don't consider it a knock against Ingram, he is my favorite player in the NCAA and thats all that matters to me.

Well said. I think it will be interesting to watch those two in the NFL. They are very similar but like you said Julio is just in a different type of offense. But even with that, his ability away from the ball is quite valuable. How many times last year did he not only tie up great cornerbacks so that Maze or Hanks could make great plays or he would block or chicken fight down the field to let Ingram make even more yardage.
Have you ever noticed when Todd McShay and Mel Kiper, Jr. are doing commentary on ESPN together, that Mel really seems to not like McShay? McShay will make some comment about a player and Kiper gives him this look like "how dumb are you!"

I've seen one player with the ability of Bo Jackson. That's Deandre.

That is a bold statement, my friend. I think Bo could have been the best ever if he would not have messed around with baseball or gotten injured. Bo was an absolute monster, and I'm also proud of him as an Alabamian that he overcome his speech and learning disabilities to accomplish all that he did. Anyway, if you say that he is anywhere close to Bo, I want to see some Southern Miss games this year.
Bo's the best athlete I've ever seen in my lifetime in any sport. I tend to believe the absolute best athletes usually wind up in the NBA, but BJ is the exception and he eclipses MJ, Kobi, LeBron and all the others IMO.
AJ or Julio is really a tough call to say which one is better. I do think AJ has better hands and separation ability but Julio is better at blocking and yards after the catch. I would say that AJ is more important to the success of his team than Julio. That’s not a knock on Julio, that is a knock on Georgia. Georgia does not have the playmakers that Alabama has to pick up the slack. If AJ goes down Georgia is going to be one dimensional.
