Re: MDB question

FG is Successful - Band: Full Yea Alabama
PAT - Continuance of Yea Alabama(we never stop between TD and FG)
2 Pt Conversion - We will again play Yea Alabama either from chorus or beginning.
Touchdown - Band: "Yea Alabama" with intro
Safety - Probably a Defense cheer.
Defense on 3rd Down - Band: A Defense Cheer
Defense on 4th Down - A Defense Cheer

NOTE: Defense Cheers range from the Work Song from Les Mis to Night on Bald Mountain with an Imperial March lick at the end.

Kickoff - Chant: [Before] "Roll..." [During] "Tide!" [After] "Roll!"
Timeout Home - Stand Tune or Show tune from last show
Timeout Visitor - Stand tune or show tune from last show
Start of 3rd quarter - Generally nothing, probably cheers/yea alabama if time allows. PA will sometimes play Zombie Nation like before the game
TFL/Sack - Against us? Nothing, or Cheer 1. against them? Defense cheer.
Defensive Stop on 3rd down - Same as before
Defensive Stop on 4th down - Same as before
Turnover - same as before
Defense takes field after Kick Return - Random cheer
3rd Down Conversion is Successful - Band: "Theme from Superman" by John Williams (short version - sped up)
4th Down Conversion is Successful - Band: "Theme from Superman" by John Williams (short version - sped up)
1st Down Conversion on 1st or 2nd Down - Band: "Theme from Superman" by John Williams (short version - sped up)

NOTE: Generally Superman theme was used on ANY conversion, but usually if it was by a run we'd play the William Tell cheer...or the "Matador" cheer now.

FG Miss by Opponent - Yea Alabama or Defense Cheer
Challenged Play - Stand tune or old show tune
Start of 4th Quarter - Band: "Basketcase" by Green Day

Penalty on Away Team - Depends on the game situation.

Re: MDB question

For timeouts, we've gone away from playing a stand tune or music from a halftime show to just cheers to get the crowd more involved. It's up to the drum majors what we play during that time and they, for the most part (99%), choose to play cheers.

Re: MDB question

Thanks I appreciate the info.

When you say "cheer" is there a particular time when you'd play Bammy Bound, Go Alabama, Roll Tide Roll, and so on. Or they just mix them up as needed?

Thanks again.

Re: MDB question

They tend to mix the cheers up, although we usually go straight from Yea Alabama into Bammy Bound after scores.

Just one correction to the above though. We usually play Short Yea after the defense forces a turnover .

And we play Cheer 1 (Go Bama) 4x more than any other song.

Amen, brother.

I remember my freshman year we'd go from Yea Alabama into Go Go Go Alabama. That was the "good time" feeling back then. But slowly we just got to where we'd go into Bammy Bound. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. I feel ultimately happy when we do that.

I <3 Alabama Football with all my soul. It sounds crazy to say that...but being at UA, in band, and a part of the experience, has left me with a few of the greatest and most unique feelings ever. It's crazy how a sport can do that. I'm truly from Alabama.

Looks like someone is anticipating NCAA 09 in a couple days!

Have you found the mp3's for all of these cheers/ songs?

The other day I heard Tusk for the first time in a long time played by Fleetwood Mac and USC Marching Band.

Now, I know it is still associated with USC but just the name of the tune makes it perfect for Bama -- Tusk -- Elephant ..........

Any thoughts?
