ME4BAMA sounds like he's been to Memphis before. I actually grew up in Memphis and lived there until 2000 (except when attending THE University from 88-92). Its a good place with bad politics. Somewhat surprisingly is that the city is not totally inendated with UT fans. There are a fair number of Arkansas fans, Miss. State fans. Slightly more Memphis fans. A strong base of Ole Miss fans and Bama fans. I believe the alumni group in Memphis was the largest group outside the state of Alabama. The radio, tv, and newspaper basically only run stories about what Alabama has done wrong - which got really annoying. Basically, you'll have a melting pot of football fans from all over but when it gets time for basketball it's University of Memphis or nothing. It'll always be Memphis State to me)
On a side note, you need to find out where the "Gamble Brothers Band" is playing and go see them one night. Al and Chad Gamble are graduates of Bama and the group has a GREAT Memphis sound. If you like "wet" ribs go to Corky's on Poplar Avenue. If you like "dry" ribs go to the Rendevous downtown. The best burger in town is probably "Elliots" downtown but it's only open for lunch. Newby's has a good burger too.
