Totally legal.I think they should be more concerned about how they keep JJ healthy. Turner could really hurt that kid.

I think there will be a few more QB runs. There is precedent, example the UM<>PSU 2022 game. Doing actual read option keepers is a talent that not all QB's have. JT Barrett was always an Urban Meyer favorite because he always made the right. His hit rate was well north of 90%. I do not know Milroe's read rate as Barrett was probably the best. The one thing Milroe does have over Barrett is a better and more accurate arm. The other thing is a Barrett and a Milroe are in the 220 range. They are QB's who can take 20+ hits in a game and be fine. McCarthy is a former hockey player. He is tough. But you can't beat physics. You probably don't want more then 5-8 design runs regardless of success. I am also not convinced McCarthy has that "read" skill. It seems like you have it or you don't.
For me the bigger question is how does Michigan attempt to better utilize Donnovan Warren. Warren is a great receiver who has been mostly a decoy this year. UM has used him to force safety coverage so that the TE's get covered by linebackers. I would like to see Michigan force the issue as even the fastest linebacker is no match for his route running.
Agreed, but he can scramble for a first down when the defense loses contain.I cannot see Michigan calling designed QB runs against our defense. JJ's scramble against Minnesota ends in a gang tackle for a 5-7 yd loss against our defense.
My understanding is that Alabama base defense is a Cover 3. Cover 3 can be got by a read option play with the QB. I am sure that after Auburn the issue has been addressed. However, the scheme is what it is.I cannot see Michigan calling designed QB runs against our defense. JJ's scramble against Minnesota ends in a gang tackle for a 5-7 yd loss against our defense.
Base defense is 3-4 over with mixed coverages. Though these days seems to be 2-4 nickelMy understanding is that Alabama base defense is a Cover 3. Cover 3 can be got by a read option play with the QB. I am sure that after Auburn the issue has been addressed. However, the scheme is what it is.
I imagine we will be most comfortable with what we were successful with against uga. Cover 2 outta nickel if it doesn’t get blown up by um’s running gameBase defense is 3-4 over with mixed coverages. Though these days seems to be 2-4 nickel
