Great read here. Countless stories like this are coming out - Leach's impact will be felt for a long, long time...

Nothing really feels adequate to put here and I feel really bad for the family, and close friends of Coach. He had a tremendous impact and effect on CFB across the nation at each of his stops.
Not just CFB but the NFL. Go look at his coaching tree. Dude was godfather of air raid offense and an innovator whose influence can be seen everywhere.

From someone who finds the highest respect for a human being...in being a humane being…Godspeed…

…I’d give my wooden leg, my eye patch, and even my shouldered parrot to have had the opportunity to befriend Captain Leach. May the wind fill your sails, and carry you into your next great adventure Captain.

Rest in Peace Coach Mike Leach. One of the good guys who could constantly remind you what was truly important in life. I know he will be missed in the sports world, but even more so by his family and friends. I pray that they can get through their grief without too many scars.

This one hit me a little bit harder than most “celebrity” deaths, as Coach Leach is the exact same age as my dad. I couldn’t imagine losing my dad suddenly like that. I hope his kids have some good support.

I didn't find this out until late this afternoon, and it seemed so shocking. I'm close to his age, yes, so that makes it real. Such a colorful personality is really going to be missed. RIP Coach Leach. Peace to his family and his friends at this time.

I can completely relate to that. My dad is also the exact same age and my mom only a year younger It was definitely one of the things I thought about when Coach passed. You just never know. R.I.P Pirate, and may your family find peace and comfort.

Thank you for this CA. First time I've actually had the chance to read it in its entirety. This shows "the real Mike Leach". This is a guy that, while many would label him as odd or quirky, simply enjoyed interacting with people. All kinds of people. Leach was the epitome of "football is what I do. But football is NOT who I am".

It is often said the truest measure of a person is "how they treat those that can do nothing for them". Mike Leach was miles and miles ahead of so many by this measure.

God be with you, our swashbuckling friend. You will be greatly missed but often remembered.
