Isn't it a little taboo to hire a OL Coach before an Offensive Co. I would think the new OC would want to be consulted.. I am not going to question CNS too much, I just find it a little odd.

Well, if you look at his bio he has been an OC before, so maybe he is OL/CO-OC.

And then you have Garrett or Applewhite has QB/CO-OC.

What do you think about that?

I'm just glad to be rid of Connelly. Whether our O-Line problems are partially his fault or all of his fault or none, this seems like a coaching position that needed a clean sweep. Even if it's just to give our OL some new confidence with a shakeup....Although from Summers' bio, he looks like a catch.

I'm starting to get a feel for that "dream team". An exciting OC hire, and this is going to one of the top staffs in the nation hands down. Roll Tide. :biggrin2:

I wonder if we will see his daughter suit up in Crimson for the softball team? Could this have been part of a deal to keep him from going to the Falcons with Petrino?

In his first season, Summers took over a unit that yielded 46 sacks in 2002 and tutored a group that allowed just 13 and set a then school record for rushing yards in a season.
That quote from his bio makes him OK in my book...lol

This is great news.............we got a OL coach that knows how to teach blocking. IMO,BC and DU just needed to go! the last 2 -3 years the worst coached part of our team besides OC were the kicking game and run and pass blocking. Yep,no more swinging gate and QB's getting killed!:biggrin2:

I also just read on BamaMag that Paul Petrino is also still in the mix...he may be coming with Summers. Time to step out of big brother's shadow and start making a name for himself, I'd think.

I always attributed Louisville's offense with Bobby. Does anyone know Paul's contributions vs. Bobby's? Is this kind of like with Beamer -- we hope the familial knowledge has rubbed off well?

Mods, do you have an opinion of Paul Petrino?

That same link I just posted above also had Jeff Brohm listed as a possible staff addition. I didn't put it together with Brian Brohm, but sure enough Jeff is Brian's bro and the QB coach at Louisville.

That would mean that we are nabbing Louisville's OC, QB and OL coaches. The mascot might be on the plane as well. He could clean flies off of Big Al's back.:p
