I keep struggling with the idea that we paid him $2M, AND, let him control the football team. I see coaches not running the team, a lost season, no effort to prepare for 2025, and Bama just throwing away $2M of precious NIL $$ like it was nothing. Regardless of how many times guys explain it...it just doesn't pass the common sense test.

The only way this will ever make sense is if TS turns out to be beyond terrible. If he's worse on his best day than JM was on his worst day.

Otherwise, it just does not compute.

Some respectfully mentioned shortcomings a couple of times then left it alone. They didn’t infest every thread on the football board and every other board on Tidefans with withering Milroe criticisms 8 times a day, every day. If anyone ever said a kind word, the anti-Milroe posse sent telegraphs to each other to put on their posting shoes and refute it in agonizing detail. Nothing could pass. Many probably didn’t feel the need to pile on? That was already being ably handled.

I was talking about professional evaluators coming out of the woodwork, not people on this board. They are just now starting to realize Milroe is no good. The tape has been there for three years, but they ignored it.

I know this is being said at least partially in jest, but it’s true that smaller hands are a problem that an NFL QB must overcome. But even though true, Jalen’s problems are far greater than that: the inability to read the field and the most amazing lack of football instincts and awareness I’ve ever seen from a D1 football player, are far greater hurdles. Also, bad mechanics and bad pocket awareness add to his QB woes.

I feel for him but all have to face the reality of their limitations at some point, but it’s especially tough when you are in the public eye.

At least he’s done well academically, graduating cum laude, with a GPA of 3.52 in Management and winning the “academic Heisman”. We know he’s articulate. He’s on par with Tom Brady and Tiger Woods with the ability to speak intelligently for a few moments without saying anything. He’s better than CKD. All kidding aside, he can be successful outside of playing football.

With his gift of gab wouldn't it be ironic if he flames at football but lands an ESPN analyst position to talk about things he couldn't do on the field???

How do you know "no effort" is being put forth to prepare for 2025?

Do you think CKD and his staff are really doing nothing?

Man, the post CNS years are hitting some folks hard!

BTW, I know nothing about how Ty Simpson may or may not perform in 2025, but I'm pretty sure it won't be because he and the staff aren't working very hard to get ready for next year.

I just remember the ball being centered all over the place and the line not being able to pass block OR run block consistantly. I know we can't have a Stoutland every year but as bad as Milroe was at trad QB-ing, he was asked to make something out of nothing every third play. If Seth was somehow able to center the ball effectively to TS and the line could block better, well, I sure didn't see it in the SF game.

Our problems were legion.

Our problems centered on Nilroe and radiated from there.

The SF game isn't a good gauge for anything related to the OL since a big chunk of them were either sitting out in protest or pouting/protesting about their paycheck getting benched. Even some in the media are starting to talk about it now so the real story is starting to see the light of day. SM wasn't part of the LANK crowd, which is why you saw him, and only him, celebrating with TS so much when TS put the entire team on his shoulders and pulled out the win.

In 23 we also know that as the season went on they had to take more and more responsibility away from Nilroe and put it on SM so far as calling protections and making adjustments because Nilroe was not capable of it. that's far from optimal because once the center is set, it's very hard for him to see all of the potential movement at the edges and second level of the defense.

The reason Nilroe had to make something from nothing every third play was because of his own deficiencies. We had the same issue this year and it's the reason that close to half our drives in games that mattered were 3 and outs. As we are seeing from the senior bowl, Nilroe is greatly deficient in the short and intermediate game, especially if any degree of timing or synchronization is required. He's just not been capable at all in that area. That means things will be very inconsistent, just like he is. that's not on the OL or any other position group for that matter.

On SM, he had no consistent issues in the 2 years of snapping to BY and no issues this year at OSU, becoming the best OC in the country. There was one season that was an exception and other exceptional things were happening, like him having to try to keep eyes on all levels of the defense to make adjustments, and Nilroe not paying attention to that and executing the cadence when adjustments were in process. Magically when SM got away from the crud, all the snap issues went away as well.

I don't think it was us paying him $2m. He got a lot of true NIL money from endorsements outside the school like it was supposed to work. The reason he got control was because he used that same channel (LANK) to funnel NIL to other players so they were loyal to him over all other things.

There was a Steelers scout last year that was perplexed why Jermaine Burton was still available in the 3rd round after seeing him at pro day and the combine. Then he suddenly realized that Simpson wasn’t the quarterback and made the point that Milroe may have cost Burton millions

Burton is doing a good enough job on his own at costing himself millions.

I heard Rodney Orr say Thursday on WJOX the number he “heard” for Milroe was $800k (from us). He also said he knew that other schools last spring had offered JM more but he chose to stay at Alabama. JM may have come close to $2 million with outside endorsements, but he got a bunch less than that from us

Milroe has been pulled though so those are his highlights I guess.

I take any grade reports of millionaire athletes this day and age with a grain of salt.

If they told the truth we might be suffering through another year of milroe, so I'm glad they planted those seeds and milroe took the bait.

Not what I would call a stellar day for Jalen today in the senior bowl. Took a few sacks, and missed a few throws. He ran for it on 4th and 5 and I think he gets it if he would have cut upfield - but he cut to the sideline and was tackled short. I did notice the American team went back to another QB who led them down the field to the winning score on the last play of the game.

I know this is a place to vent, etc., but personally I feel like we've piled on JM enough...no QB is perfect and this one has had his faults totally exposed, Can he over come them through professional coaching...that has yet to be seen. He gave his all for UA and I would hope we would just show some class and let. him go in peace. Running him down, true or not, will do nothing to enhance any of our personal standing in life -- and that is what this sounds like to me.

Venting can help heal, and while we all need to move on eventually, the timing will vary from person to person.

Maybe Milroe knew he was going to be a flop at the next level so he did all the LANK stuff to bank as much as possible.

Make a couple million in college, hopefully be a FA for a few years making the league minimum and retire at 25 with $4-5 mm in career earnings.
