Thank you very much!

"I would say Tennessee has more talent than Alabama, both sides of the ball," Mincey said. "Alabama has a good defense, but I'd still say Tennessee has more talent.

"Tennessee's (offensive line) was big and athletic and we came out and played them pretty good. We were a couple of mistakes from beating the crap out of (Tennessee). We were a couple of missed assignments from beating them pretty bad. The funny thing is we're going to get better and better."

They might have more talent; however, we play better as a team. That is why we are going to be SEC Champs.

Personally, I think good teams or at least well coached teams do not need "bulletin board material" to be up for a game. If AL needs this to be motivated and play their best then they have bigger problems. Coaches just use this excuse to try and keep players from getting into unnecessary and distracting arguements with oposing players and fans.

As for the comments, maybe a little premature as he has not played AL yet, but talent wise, TN is way on up there and AL has been dealing with sanctions, so this may not be far fetched. Some of the other comments are out of line, but I am not a fan of the Lou H. make your opponent seem much better than they are, coachspeak thing.

I agree with gator on that one - players & coaches don't need bulletin board talk to make or break a game (besides, any thing that has ever popped into the mind of a fan or what a fan observes is NOTHING a coach or player has not already thought about &/or observed too...) ... AND they scarcely have time to even go online at this time of year anyway... However, when & if they do get time to read , & if they find supportive & loyal stuff from fans - it pumps them up to "do those fans proud"...

I think sometimes bulliten board material is good because it means that the other team is a little overconfident. Also, it is something the team can rally around and go out angry to prove everyone wrong. I love it. Right now, I think we have Florida right where we want them. Just like Bear used to say, we're coiled up like a rattle snake ready to strike.

I seem to remember another defensive end talking smack back in 1999 before the game. And I believe we shoved those remarks down his throat in his own back yard. I believe the quote is in someone's signature.

If Dumbose can do it, Shula can do it better.

Bulletin board material doesn't matter?????

You might want to refer to some of the post-game remarks after the 1993 Sugar Bowl. Maybe good teams shouldn't have to have it, and the 1992 National Champions were pretty good, but Miami's words, actions, and palpable lack of respect seemed to fire them up a little. Running your mouth like that very rarely helps and almost always hurts.

I have yet to be impressed with either aspect of Florida's game.

They beat Tennessee because Clausen didn't start. Croyle is better than Ainge or Clausen. Our WRs are better than theirs too. I would say KD is on par with Riggs... he seems to be more productive this season, at least.

Croyle's been sacked one time all year. Our pass defense is superior to Florida's, as Leak has been pummelled many times this year. I think ESPN pointed that out last night... Croyle, with two reconstructed knees running a drop back offense, has more rushing yards than Leak, who runs a spread option offense. I have a hard time seeing Florida's OL all of a sudden turning into this incredible blocking machine against a team averaging, what, 3 1/4 sacks a game?

Florida's team has gotten a big head beating up on inferior opponents and getting pretty lucky against UT because Fulmer was a moron not starting his better QB. They're setting themselves up for a huge let down.

Ah...there you are! Right on time! :biggrin2:

Also, skrayper, let's not forget Colquitt trying to play QB too. Mincey says they were a few mistakes from blowing UT away. Quite the contrary my friend.

S77.."Croyle is better than Ainge or Clausen" I agree.

Our receivers are better...yet to be determined. UT has some very good receivers, their QB's just havn't been that accurate with their throws. Partly because they havn't settled on whom the main QB is going to be.

Bama's receivers have the potential to be better, but as a group they arn't there yet.

QB intellegence is where I think Bama is superior to Tennessee. Brodie would not make the same mistake that LSU's QB made just before the half which cost LSU 3 points...and probably the game.

You are correct, a loss to AL would be a huge letdown. Fortunately we do not have to play any quality opponents like ARK this year. Can't believe we got by TN, our defense would have completely given up once Clausen came in. BC runs better than CL and has only been sacked once and yet 3 of the 4 games were still up for grabs in the 4th qtr.. CL is getting sacked all the time and still has more passign yards, a better completion percentage, more TD's, less interceptions, than BC.

I don't mind you being excited about your team but if FL is so horrible why make such a big deal about the game. Maybe FL wins, maybe AL - we all know that it can go either way. It seesms that noone in the SEC impresses you - if AL goes undefeated and gets left out of the national title game, remember that. Everyone here seems so impressed with AL but to me they have just done what is expected, or even underachieved. I know there is a chance they click in the FL game and do good things, but I also know that FL gets better each week just from an experience standpoint and at any week they can turn it on.

-hopefully I have not crossed over into the obnoxious - just expressing my opinions here and there - feel free to ignore me :)

it's been my belief that bulletin board material only serves to inspire the fans getting ready for the game. even if a quote gets the team fired up, you only play for 5-10 minutes on that adrenaline. after that, it comes down to which team has the most talent and/or is more focused.

bb material sells newspapers. it doesn't win games.

personally, i have no clue which team has the advantage in the coming game. florida has played the best team in tenn thus far, and won. alabama will have the home field advantage. i expect turnovers will be the difference in a tough hard fought key game. i sure hope alabama will play two halves this week. i sure hope josh portis does not get much playing time for the gators, he can turn a game around with his running. he is the big threat, more so than chris leak, and urban knows it.

I never said that UF's defense would have given up to Clausen, I'm saying his abilities could easily have been the difference in the game. UF was given quite a few gifts in that game... a more stable and precise QB, and there's a good chance the game goes the other way.

Leak's a good passer. There's no way I'll say otherwise to that. I am saying that Alabama will pressure him often, and I think our corners are better than UT's.

Don't fall into that, "So-so doesn't say nice things about my team, so I'll imply he's saying they're horrible" schtick. That's not even true. The simple fact of the matter is that no team in the SEC has been terribly impressive, save Vanderbilt (mostly because of their expectations). The only team that has been impressive from day 1 is Southern California. No team, UA, UF, UT, etc in the SEC has looked anywhere near "unbeatable". Watching football for as long as I have, I tend to look for weaknesses in my opponents. I recognize Alabama has them too. UF has an OL that gives up too many sacks, and against the one good defense they've played, had only 10 real points to their name, and 6 points from drives that didn't net a first down, if memory serves. UA is more of an enigma. Is USC as good as they played against UGA and UA that good, or a fluke? Is ARK as bad as they played against USC, or was that a fluke? Is UT that good because they beat LSU, or that bad because they barely beat UAB?

The SEC, to me at least, looks to be having a down year. No teams seem to be in a "take charge" mode yet. LSU barely beat ASU and their D looked bad against them. The same LSU D looked exhausted against UT, unable to stop them in the 4th at all.

UF's a good team, but I don't see them being "better" than Alabama, like so many people kept saying at the beginning of the year. No team on Alabama's schedule looks better than they are as of yet. Does that mean UF *isn't* better than Alabama? Hardly.

I see a good game. But I haven't been impressed with anyone in the SEC as of yet. However, the UA/UF game could quite possibly be repeated in the SECCG. By then, both teams will have a more solid identity.

I have to disagree with the statement that everyone expected
us to be 4 and 0 right now before the season because if
your an Alabama fan you know thats a load of BS. I've been
keeping close watch to our team allllll year long and from my
memory I vividly remember all the synics and critics saying
that we may have another bad season indeed meaning we may
not win games like Ark and S. Car. But you know what its so
funny and entertaining that now that we're 4 and 0 these same
morons that said "Oh Carolina is gonna be so tough and etc.,blah blah blah"
are now saying "Oh yeah you were expected to. All these people
need to jump off the popularity wagon. Whatever. Either way
whatever happens as far as loss/wins this year the fact of the matter
is Bama will be back so everyone else thats had a free ride for the
past 8 yrs might as well get used to us. Our Recruiting range is starting to
overimpede into others backyards and its only a matter of time. Dubose won 10 countem 10 friggin games and an sec title. It really doesn't matter if Gandi or Bill Parcells the coach we are Alabama and we will win regardless when its all said and done standing on full leverage with each recruiting season and personnel change.
