Elon Musk is using his social media platform to promote misinformation about the presidential candidates in the lead up to the November election, amplifying false claims Wednesday about a Trump rally bomb threat and immigrants eating pets in Ohio.

While Musk’s posting of provocative, incendiary content on X is nothing new, the speed with which he has promoted false claims in recent days is striking given the breadth of Musk’s digital reach, with his posts regularly finding their way atop users’ feeds.

I would rather our country not have a space program than pay this guy to operate it for us...
I suppose you'd rather go back to relying on the Russians (like we had to until SpaceX filled the void)?

Seems like an odd solution...

There's literally nothing stopping the other private companies (nor the publicly owned companies like Boeing who received more development money from NASA for Starliner than SpaceX received for Dragon) from stepping up and competing.

This has nothing to do with Twitter, but having been on the road a lot lately, I’ve seen quite a few Teslas. There’s even a Cybertruck and a hatchback here in town. I was asking my receptionist if she had seen the truck. She thought she knew whose it was and told me where the guy lived, so I drove by after work to see if I could find it. The guys new truck probably costs half of the value of his home. I hope the Cybertrucks hold their value.

EVs depreciate much faster than their ICE counterparts - except for Teslas, which depreciate at a similar rate to gas autos.

Time will tell, but odd-ball vehicles like the CT tend to not hold value long term.

And EV sales are down across the board. I heard on the radio the other day that there are definitely forthcoming layoffs due to this.

It's good that auto manufacturers started making EVs that look like their ICE counterparts instead of these gaudy abortions I've seen on the road in the past. Having said that, I am genuinely baffled that the cybertruck ever went beyond the concept design. That is, without a doubt, one of the ugliest things I have ever seen. I can't imagine it holding much resale value unless it becomes some kind of collector's item.

I've heard them referred to as "Deploreans", which is hysterical on multiple levels.

And yes, they are flat out butt ugly. Like a bedpan had angry sex with a Pontiac Aztek.

One of my best friends has a Suburu EV that he uses just for his daily commute. He loves it. Me, I'd love to have a hybrid, but I'm not ready to go full EV yet.
