Pryor’s acts expose charade of college athletics - College Football - Rivals.com

When is it finally going to come to a head? I mean, if the NCAA continues to defy it's own rules with this type of blatant disregard, and they continue to openly use selective enforcement, when do they get called to task for it? It is my understanding that the schools ARE the NCAA. When are the University Presidents or administrators going to take a stand and end this madness that is the NCAA? Something has to give...

Again my reply to this situation is the same as it's been for many years... nothing new here in the NCAA or athletes across college athletics receiving extra benefits.

Schlante & Roll Tide,
Phillip

If I was Arkansas or an Arkansas fan I would be getting ready for a one sided officiated game. Any way for Ohio State and the Big Ten to save face now lies with tonights outcome. I am worried for Arkansas myself!

I have a question about the tOSU punishment.

The players, who are set to begin a 5-game suspension starting next season, have supposedly all agreed to come back next season. (I'm assuming they're all juniors) What happens if any of them change their mind? There's really nothing forcing them.

They promised they would come back. What more do you need? Nothing is going to happen when they don't come back. All players are JR's and I will bet they don't come back

What can you expect from an organization that chose to embarrass Cecil Hurt for the source of the money for his cancer treatments while their own president was dying of pancreatic cancer?

I love how Cam "didn't know" that his daddy was shopping him, so he doesn't have to sit out any games. Yet when Marcel Dareus "didn't know" that the source of the money that paid some of his Miami travel expenses were tied to an agent (or agent runner), he had to sit out a few games. Consistent, I think not.

Nothing new to selective enforcement except that it is even worse under the "new management." Everyone is the country knows they are a joke -- everyone, that is, except the NCAA boss. He seems to think his goofy explanations are just what the doctor ordered.

He is going to toughen the rules, is he? He will toughen them where there will be even more wiggle room. Watch and see. More loopholes is just what the new doctor ordered.

How would you like to have a job like Baghdad Bob? I can imagine how the spokesperson must feel when trying to sound convincing with these PR statements.

I repeat my normal saying regarding the NCAA. The only thing consistent about the NCAA is their inconsistency. It never changes. It is the same as always.

Throw in the fact that now TV ratings and corporate sponsors have pull with the NCAA as well.

Now all appeals will feature the "I didn't know" and "the rules weren't properly explained" side. The only chance any appropriate action will be taken is if the legal system gets involved, the IRS or the FBI (fingers crossed they'll reveal damning info on Auburn). Great shape we're in having to depend on the government to keep football in shape.

You were right. Mallet was almost flipped over one time after being hit. My girlfriend (who doesn't know very much about football) saw it and said that didn't seem fair. The defender held onto Mallet's lower leg and raised them above RM's head after the play.

In light of the recent rulings by the NCAA concerning Camster and the Tattoo posse should schools seriously think about dissolving their NCAA compliance personnel? It seems that ignorance is bliss and if you have no one on staff to inform players of what they can and cannot do then you could simply claim "They didn't know" and go on about your merry way.

Something I was wondering: is OSU out of it just yet? Will the school get hit with LOIC since the players (and the NCAA) say the compliance staff did not do a good job of explaining the rules? If so, the suspensions should be the least of OSU's worries.

It was my understanding that the 5 game suspension of the players was the punishment, period. Someone please correct me, if I'm wrong on this.

I think much like the SEC office, the NCAA can't wait for the season to end. My problem is, all of this even with a new NCAA prez? Who is going to challenge the NCAA on all this year's blunders? How will all the wrongs be righted? When will they clearly define the rules and punishments for infractions and clean this up? EVEN after CAMGATE, the situation continues to get worse? How are they letting this happen? Incompetent officials, shady loopholes, .....when and how will this madness end???
