One rule change would prohibit defenders who run toward the line of scrimmage on field goal and PAT attempts from jumping offensive linemen. Currently defensive players are allowed to leap over linemen if they don't land on another player.
Another proposal would require players to wear knee pads that cover the knees. The final change would include the nameplate area of the jersey in the current horse-collar tackle rule.

Just more rules making it easier for offenses. If a defender can leap over the line without touching anyone, what's the problem? Too many successful blocks in recent years so got make it illegal? If you touch another player it is a penalty so I don't see a problem with the rule as it is right now. Don't give me the "risk of injury" crap because you risk injury by just playing the game. If we are soooooo concerned about the little flowers getting hurt then just kill the sport and be done with it.

I don't think it is about injuries though. Most non-SEC teams can't compete with top SEC defenses so they are trying to legislate them out of the game. I mean, why else is is perfectly okay for the ball carrier to push a defender down by the facemask but, a 15 yarder if a defender does the same? If it was really about safety then the ball carrier wouldn't be allowed to do it as well.

Can you see this: Penalty because on the previous play the knee pads did not cover the knee. It appear to be three more areas for review delays and judgement calls. It sucks.

The faemask penalty is to prevent a player from grabbing facemask (or part of helmet) and twisting. There is a penalty for illegal contact to facemask on defenders that could apply to a stiffarm, however.

Have we seen conclusive data that tackles in the nameplate area are significantly riskier than normal tackles? They always look dicey because the tackle-ee contorts his body in a way that is similar to a horse collar but I can not recall seeing a play where someone getting tackled around the nameplate gets injured.
Any pull down from behind above the waist is significantly riskier than normal tackles IMO. Re: Treadwell ankle broken by the barn in 2014.

I have seen guys get a penalty for a stiff arm face mask.
