It's been decided that the directive "enter at your own risk" has been abused and has therefore outlived its usefulness. In the future, the forum, with the exception of the cartoon, etc., thread, will be moderated more or less along the same lines as other site forums. That is to say that common courtesy will be required as in the others. Snarky one word or one sentence replies which add nothing except sarcasm, contempt, etc., to a discussion will be deleted and repeat offenses will be met with consequences...

Earle, I just want to say "THANK YOU!" to yourself and all the other moderators who put up with the shenanigans created us mere mortal members. Your management is appreciated more than you know....and is the reason this site is a breath of fresh air when compared to others.

If the thread remains unlocked, I would like to add a few more thoughts at a later date as it relates to the thread topic.

Best,
Baz

We'll see how it goes. If it turns into a debate over what board policy should be, we'll lock it, because we've never allowed that and aren't going to now...

Guess I just wanted to say in the years since I joined, I feel I've evolved in my posting philosophy.

No longer interested in butting heads with anyone. I find it more enjoyable to retain relationships and friendships, where possible.

And have as much fun as possible while doing so. :)
We hope that more people will find posting here fun...

I would like us on this forum aspire to what the media nor the politicians want us to do - find common ground on issues after healthy debate even if means modifying our positions. Endless unresolved debate is not healthy as we have seen here.

I would like to see the influential posters in this forum come together and we develop our own Tidefans platform on issues of importance. I believe where we can we need to practice consensus building as we have lost that value as a country.

If others wanted to participate, Im game. We could post certain threads as sticky threads where participation in the thread requires advancing consensus on an issue. Any posts not doing that could be deleted or gaslighters could be suspended from the thread.

I envision it sort of like walking in the footsteps of our forefathers. We could resolve platform issues and even have votes on the positions as outlined. I would be interested to see what such an effort would yield. To add, I think would make us consume our news sources a little differently because our objective for consuming the media would be more than entertainment or validation.

If the address of an issue doesnt yield a > 50% approval then we need to keep at modifying it until we get there.

At this point after the election and the unknown of what lies ahead, I want to be part of a constructive conversation in this forum.

Good idea--I'm in!

This is the last bastion of sense and open "classy" discussion -- and I for one was very appreciative. Disagreement is normal and expected by me. Personal attack on anyone, player, coach, or poster,, is unacceptable. I have about 12 people that when they post I read it. Otherwise, I just see what Tidewater has come up with on Ukraine...for example.

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.

It is a sign of the times. Civility is a constant struggle in uncivil times. And on issues where there is very little common ground. Just the kindling you need for things to go sour.

In my previous turn as a moderator, I seemed to find that those who complained the most about posts were people who were guilty of the same thing they ware complaining about.

Agreed. For this to occur, being open minded and non-loyal to a party, will be pertinent.

*Humbly steps forward*

I, CrimsonJazz, being of sound mind and highly restrained behavior and thought, do hereby volunteer to be the shining example for all posters of the forum going forward.

(For those of you wondering why this is not in blue font, there are days when even I can't tell if I'm being serious.)

I sincerely enjoy the back and forth banter in some of these discussions, as long as ad hominem and ignorant sparring are avoided. We don’t have to agree on everything, but we should all support our arguments, kindly agree when we’ve been corrected, and discuss topics civilly. Thanks to all who make this corner of the internet one of the best.

I would like us on this forum aspire to what the media nor the politicians want us to do - find common ground on issues after healthy debate even if means modifying our positions. I agree 100% on this idea, however, I can't say that I have ever seen anyone modify their position on political issues being discussed on a message board. Endless unresolved debate is not healthy as we have seen here.

If others wanted to participate, Im game. We could post certain threads as sticky threads where participation in the thread requires advancing consensus on an issue. This idea seems a bit off to me; similar to the idea of censorship of opposing thoughts/ideas. Not a favorable posture IMO. Any posts not doing that could be deleted or gaslighters could be suspended from the thread. Again, why would any American support the idea of censorship of opposing viewpoints?

To add, I think would make us consume our news sources a little differently because our objective for consuming the media would be more than entertainment or validation. I do agree that everyone ought to look at our chosen news sources with a bit more objectively. Too many times

DISCLAIMER: I didn't use red font to flame anything about your post. I did that just to easier discern what you posted vs. what I posted and that color in particular because it is the closest to Crimson... I will admit that I could have misunderstood your meaning entirely and I AM NOT posting just to argue.

I'm bumping this as a reminder to ALL posters: "Snarky one word or one sentence replies which add nothing except sarcasm, contempt, etc., to a discussion will be deleted and repeat offenses will be met with consequences."
