Alabama: Nick Saban Feels 'Really Good' About QB Tyler Buchner's Development

I don’t think anyone here has given up on Milroe. But there is work, a lot of it, that has to be done. But if Buchner has continued to improve to the point of passing JM in terms of understanding and executing the offense, then the only way to find out is give him a shot. And finding out against USF is probably better than finding out next week against Ole Miss.

I'm guessing someone hasn't gotten around to reading all the threads yet? 😄

I'm hinting at the angle that better coaches who don't need the "mentor program" tend to not come to CNS.
That hasn’t always been the case though has it? He’s always had a reputation for being tough to work for, but it didn’t stop quality coaches from jumping at the opportunity in the past. Even if they only stayed a few years, they were happy to have it on their resumes. I’m thinking of folks like Stoudtland (how good was he?).

I have, as the starting QB.

I'd love to eat crow on this one, but I don't see it happening,
A was really talking more about the coaching staff in terms of his development, not necessarily us fans. More in a response to the notion of urging him to switch positions or hit the portal.

I should have clarified that in my original post.

Yes, but what about in most recent years?

The elite ones are Kiffen and Sark, who needed "rebuilding/rebranding" but other than them, who's the elite coach who has come to work for CNS in the last few?

I’m not disagreeing with you at all. It’s definitely happening. I’m just saying I don’t understand why things have changed, because the word about him being hard to work for isn’t new.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I might be considering certain things that you are not and likewise with you. I could care less about what you are tired of hearing you don't have to read my thoughts. One thing I try to do to keep it civil and not attempt to demean those who have an opinion different that my own.
Sir, what are you talking about?

At least you are honest about that. I for one don't think it's time to give up on any of the qbs this fall. All three will take leap forward this fall and in offseason and in spring. Milroe is untapped talent that needs to be developed by the right coaches.. and I don't think Alabama is it for that.

Just to name few I think those school are perfect for him.

Ty Smpson needs to stick around... He has an chance to win the job. Longeran and Sayin will be in mix, but if Simpson can take another step forward, then great.

If I had to guess for tomorrow,
i think TB will play majority of the game until they are up by 28 or 30 points, and then Milroe get the work. Simpson comes in last 2 minutes of the game.

If south Florida makes Buchner look like Mac Jones ,will we really know what we've got in Buchner. I think mtsu gave us a false sense of security about milroe and then Texas happened.

That's a terrifying prospect. I sincerely Simpson gets a shot to be the backup.

I'd like to see Simpson get some meaningful playing time , milroe had his test on the biggest stage and showed me that he can't handle the pressure of a big game i.e. the head scratcher throws for interceptions.

Screw it, give Simpson and Lonergan everything Buchner doesn't take. JM is a known quantity and a valuable weapon (if used properly), we might just have a gem holding a clipboard on the sideline, waiting for the lights to come on.

I hear JM's sideline demeanor is excellent. Sorry to keep harping on this comment, but it has to be the weirdest and most frustrating thing I have ever heard Coach Saban say after a game.

I would love to see lonergan warming up on the sidelines , he's going to be a special player.
