Not surprised at all. Saban Field seemed so obvious. Since society these days is so sensitive about offending someone there's no way Denny would be dropped from Bryant-Denny Stadium. Georgia will have a bigger problem when Kirby retires since they already have Dooley Field.

Maybe the thing to do is just start calling the place Saban Field.

One factor that I think gets left out when discussing Saban's legacy is the enormous growth of the University itself during his tenure. When I was there back in the Ray Perkins days there were 16k students and mostly in-state. Now it's over 39k, majority out-of-state, and more highly regarded academically than ever in terms of facilities and faculty. Given how much of T-town has Bryant's name on it, they're gonna need to find a lot more stuff to name after CNS.

Maybe re-name T-town Sabanopolis?

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
I don't know this, but it would be very in line with Coach Saban and Mrs. Terry NOT BEING COMFORTABLE taking anyone's name off the stadium to have theirs on it. I think naming the field is exactly what they are comfortable and happy with, so why mess with it? Just name the field Saban Field, have the ceremony, and be done.

I think they should have renamed it Bryant Saban Stadium at Denny Field. They could have gone further by building a statute and memorial plaza of Denny outside the stadium to compensate for the change and i think it would have been more appropriate.

I'm not going to trip too hard but it should've at least been Saban/Bryant/Denny stadium. I'm definitely not for dropping someone's name off. Saban Field is a good start... The man hasn't retired even for a year yet.... Has a statue already.

If I could hope for anything it would be for them to make a better statue for him. I'm sure they'll add a lot more things with his name on it around campus, maybe even a separate museum.

I've thought about this already, and no self-respecting Bama fan should deny it, but when CKD wins his first NC will the NC coaches' statues need to be reworked to provide space for CKD's?

None of us reading this will be here in 100 years.

But you can bet there will be at least 2 more coaches come along that will do as much as Saban or Bryant.

No one thought anyone could match Bryant but it has happened and it will happen again.

What are we gonna do, start naming sections of the stadium after people?

Or name the east and west end zone after future multiple championship winning coaches?

We are lucky in the sense more coaches are going to come along and win multiple championships, but we cant start naming end zones or sections after people.

Where will it end?

But hey if this becomes an issue, it is because we have won like 15 more national titles so I guess it really isn't that bad.
