Nick Saban's Statue

What's Saban think of this? The reason I ask is that they're starting to dedicate coach statues in Norman. Last year was Bennie Owen, the one-armed (not kidding) pre WW2 coach. Next is Bud Wilkinson, then Barry Switzer. After that would be Coach Stoops but he told the administration he doesn't want his up until after he's left.

I read that our AD asked Coach Saban about the statue now or after he is gone and Coach Saban has no problem with it being now. I don't care about waiting either. I had to wait 18 years for the fifth HC and I don't want to wait years and years to put it up.

I like OU putting up your statues. If you got 'em you ought to use 'em.

I guess I'm sort of disappointed in it. I was more picturing it being him in his "practice" attire, the signature straw hat with that vest thing he wears.

Sad part of all of this is that the photographer that took these pics had his camera stolen last week and the thief sold the images to the Tuscaloosa News.

There aren't enough expletives in the world to describe that low life.

Much praise goes to the student artist and his mentor for keeping this project under wraps for as long as they did. I saw this thing back in the fall, during football season. At the time, it was being constructed a mere two blocks from the quad in a private artist studio. I was told at the time that there were no photos allowed, no one was even allowed to bring in their cell phones.

If we can get peaceful poses of Coach Bryant and Coach Stallings as statues, then I guess we can for Coach Saban. A statue of Coach Stallings yelling at an official would have been good and Coach Bryant would yell at everybody. A statue of CPB with his hand on a player's facemask pulling him where he wanted him to go would have been good.

I like the intensity on these but you would have to paint his face crimson and hook up a fog machine to shoot steam out of his ears in these poses.:banghead:

I'll wait to see the actual statue before I decide. I do like the idea of him clapping, but those pictures don't look like coach to me. I was sort of expecting a headset also.
