Does anyone know why Tubbs has completely disappeared from the rotation? I know he hasn't shot as well this year as last, but after getting 25 mins against SELA and 25 mins against Georgetown his minutes in the next games have been as follows:

Nicholls State: 8 mins (0 for 0 from the field w/ 2 points (2/2 FT - came in w/ about 1:30 left in 1st half and last 6 mins of a blowout)
Wofford: DNP
Texas Pan-Am: 4 mins (0 for 0 w/ 0 points)
Missourri State: DNP
Iowa State: 1 min (0 for 0 w/ 0 points - came in w/ the end of the bench in a blowout)
George Washington: 4 mins (0 for 0 w/ 0 points - came in at the end of a blowout)
Clemson: DNP

Other than the blowouts, he has gotten almost no playing time at all since Georgetown (and after attending George Washington and Clemson and watching his body language throughout, it doesn't appear he is thrilled with the change). Does anyone know whether this is due to previous poor performances, injuries, discipline, etc.? I'm not necessarily questioning the move, as we were 6-1 over that span (though I kept looking for him to enter yesterday against Clemson when we were in such a lull early in the 2nd half and in need of some kind of spark). I just remember how much defensive energy he brought off the bench last year and wondered why we're not seeing it this year.

I'm not sure, but I don't think CMG likes guys who play defense. Of course, I could be wrong.

He coaches like Shula. He picks his favorite players at the beginning of the season and never changes anything regardless of who's performing or not performing.
Riley was 0-9 from three point range against Clemson. He could go 0-9 in every game for the rest of the season and he'll be a starter.
Tubbs could come into a game and score 45 points, be back on the bench the next game and not see a minute of playing time.
I've said in several posts that this team will not beat one good team we play. They're simply not very good, and horribly coached in my opinion.
Five conference wins is a reach at best.

Care to explain, because every time he is in a game he plays very good D, he hustles & he shots the ball fairly well.

..and he's athletic and intense and is a pretty darn good shooter. The thing I like about him is that he never seems to be intimidated. Simply goes about his business and gives his all.

I can't understand why he does not play. He is our best defender. I think a problem with CMG is that he settles for too small of a rotation.

I agree...I saw the kid play in HS and thought that CMG may have made a mistake in signing him but he has since proven me wrong. He always impresses me with his defensive intensity, his nice shot and the way he goes about his business. His lack of playing time is a bit of a mystery to me but maybe there's more to it than we see from afar...but I just don't get it. It's not like he dominates the game but he does more than enough to warrant regular playing time...especially considering the results of the other guys.

He hustles........I really like the fire he brings on the court.

I was wondering the same things tonight.

Maybe someone will ask the coach at the next press conference.

Tubbs & Hillman should see more playing time, both can shoot & both play in you face D.
I agree. Tubbs and Hillman should be playing for their D alone when one of the other teams guards is going off. Our defense on the perimeter is terrible. They don't go over screens and allow great shooters to have open looks, and they often don't even switch on screens. While in zone they don't guard the elbow, which UF took advantage of all night. If Pickett is turning the ball over like he did in the second half (he had a great first half), and Riley is cold, then Hollinger needs to play the point, with Hillman or Tubbs playing the two.
I don't like to criticize coaches, but defense is all about coaching. Good athletes can play good defense if they are taught and motivated. This does not appear to be happening.

tubbs has horrible shot selection. it seems the first time he touches the ball on offense it is going up. he doesn't seem to get in the flow of the game when he comes in. it seems like he forces way to much. i think the rotation we have now is working. we will see what happens tonight.

I preface this post by stating that I love Tubbs. He gives 110% on the defensive end and I admire that in him.

While I agree that his shot selection is questionable, but, to me it's no worse than Riley's. The difference is that Tubbs plays much better defense. He may force too much on the offensive end, but he forces a lot on defense which is a good thing. I can understand sitting him to send the message that he needs to reign in his shot selection. But to not play him at all; that I don't understand.

TIDE-HSV posted in a different thread referring to the Auburn game that we somehow can't get but 7 guys PT in a 30-pt. blowout and that will bite us later. I agree with that with his assesment.
