JessN: Now that the previews are done ... here is what I'll call the "Pitfall Post" ... (What I'm most worried about)

Read yesterday that Bama was the only team to be ranked in the top 10 on all three levels of the defense. That was per PFF. They also picked Bama's defense as #1 overall. Hope that's true...should really help out the offense.

I like PFF, but I also think they are looking purely at talent when they rank their units and not necessarily coaching and cohesion of the sum of the individual parts. With that said, I think we do have a chance to have an elite defense. Perhaps not as elite as some of the defenses we've had under Saban, due to not having the depth of those teams, but elite when comparing it to other teams' defensive units because no one has a ton of depth.

It's also interesting that PFF ranked our offense as the 4th best. Again, I think that is more due to the talent of the individual parts, but so much of the success of the offense is predicated on the performance of the QB, and that is such an unknown right now. It's also very much an unknown for the rest of the top teams in the country outside of Clemson, Penn St, and LSU, though I don't think any of those are at an elite level of QB play either.

Proctor had one bad game against Texas in ‘23, but has improved immensely since then. At the risk of beating a dead horse, I’m still of the opinion the QB made the OL look way worse than what it actually was. There are so many instances when He Who Shall Not Be Named would hold the ball too long and just stand there taking sacks, or worse…running into them. He also threw multiple INTs when he had clean pockets. People look at the sack totals last year and assume it’s all on the OL, but the film simply doesn’t support that.
Your preaching to the choir. I thought and voiced those opinions last year. (No one really wanted to hear my opinion on the matter) I would have been better off to not mention you know who, but I tend to voice my opinions...
I'll voice my opinion again...
I think the OL and QB will both look better this season.
They should make the RB and Receivers also look better. This will put a big RedNeck Smile on my face.
If all these positions look better this will put that same smile on Grubbs and DeBoer's faces too. :)

Problem was Jalen was pretty much a One Man Band last year. When he was good he was great, when he was bad...

That's the problem with the QB position in today's football (all football not just college). The offense will sink or swim solely on how the QB position plays. The game is a QB driven sport, and if the QB is inconsistent then the entire offense will be. If the QB is consistent, then amazingly, the entire offense is consistent. We've GOT TO GET more consistent play from the QB or nothing on offense will run right.
